Ne spent the next two years ln Junior High and with t e help of our competent teachers we ended this phase of school, eager and read, for high school Here we are green little Freshmen! Ehe next event was a very nice banquet given us by the Junior Class. Margaret is a private detective in the trial of her after six years I believe it must be true love, but if not she going to teach chemistry in Bird City High next year Clifford ard Dorothy are still driving the little blue ford to town every week end to purchase their week's supply of groceries Jim is a lawyer in Iew York nov I hear he is doing fine too so long as he doesn't have to worn Joann is still out on the farm waiting Ihat's one Job that does not use her Bookkeeping technique Phyllis is working at the hospital in Benkelman, supporting her hubby, Bill, who is hoping to graduate this year herb doesn't clean the vault at the Bird City security Bank any more, but is now stationed on an island cleaning cells Janet said, Alcatrazn see what his mental ability did for him! Eula is living on a chicken farm in nsnsas as the wlfe of an army Pfc , who e regular Job in the army is K P The last report on Evelyn is that she hopes to get out of Bird City nlgh this year, not as a teacher either Poor kid, she'll never get that sheep harder and that sheep farm if she doesn't make it this year debating husband Iona has settled down in a trailer house with ner cute red headed Alvin is farming this year, girls tnings are uoixg fine Rumors are out that he needs a boon eeper now about it Joann? A ., L: .. . . . ,,. , , , rA , ...,.A,- ,. ,.. .. ,1. f Z' :J if i- 41' 5-'il ii' F' ii' 54' .5' -75' .-if 4-' -3' 1 Q11 lu KK 'KK X 'K 'Ki 'KK W-.K 'KX 'KK Illiiiiii?'iiIIiiiiIiiIlIIII TH SOPBOIORES The Freshmen get the attention, the Juniors get the honor, the Seniors get the glory and the Sophomores get the rub 1 1s may be true in lots of ways but the Sophomores of 1947 have starred this year Our class officers are Bill McConnell PPBS1C8Dt, Clyde Gleason Vice Presidert, Don Overturf secretary and Jim Underwood Treasurer The sophomore Class, under the sponsorship of Mr Bechtold, had s skatirg party at senkelman, Nebraska, this year In order to have e nough girls each sophomore girl invited another girl to go along as guests Wveryore had a 'hard falling' time Jim Underwood and Yvonne Purvis were chosen king and ,ueen of the class We presented a one act play for the floor show at the Senior Car nival called 'The Clock Struck One' Good prospects were found in the class as a result of the play for the Junior play next year The sophomores are proud to report the artistic ability in their class A prize sas offered for the best decorated home room at Christ mas time, which the sophomore Class dlllgertly Sought and won They received a cash prize of three dollars and were the honored guests at an all school party the second semester THE JUNIORS The Junior Class of 1947 consists of twenty four active members Mrs Cram and lr Hetzler are the efficient sponsors of this class The Class officers are as follows lava Eggers President, Raymond Welch Vice President and Melvin Pettit Secretary Treasurer The Juniors started the school year off with a bang by proving to vided into two groups to see which side could sell the most magazine subscriptions A nice profit resulted which boosted the class trees ury Then came the Senior Carnival in which the Junior Class had charge of the Fun House They were kept very busy working on this and practicing for the Junior Play which was to be given the following week Skits of the play were given at the floor show as a means of advertising She play, entitled 'Coveralls' was given november 26 27 After this big success pictures were taken of the cast After the play the second night the cast and the faculty enjoyed ice cream and cup cakes in the Home Economics room During the month of December the ntire high school entered into friendly competition to see which class could decorate their home room the most attractively The Juniors took second place in this contest During the second semester a speech class wee organlzed and its part time duty was the publication of a school newspaper, The 'Bird City Cardinal' The class is made up of twenty one members, eighteen of which are Juniors, and with wonderful cooperation an interesting and very newsy paper was issued eve y month During the basketball season the Junior Class sold pennents and small letters which sold rapidly because of the fine school spirit of the loyal students of Bird City High School The Junior senior Banquet has not yet been planned but it is sure to be a big event when it arrives In summarizing our Junior year we add that this class and its varied activlties will remain as pleasant memorles for many many years to come eesssxmxanxese lorldly fame is but a breath ot wind that blows now this way, and now that, and changes name as it changes direction Dante '11 ii.
