Dedication MARSHALL GREENE We, the staff of Panther Tales , join the faculty, the student body, and the community in dedicating this book to a dear friend, our principal, Marshall Greene, for whom this year marks a quarter of a century of faithful and unselfish service at the Birch Run Schools. In the fall of 1936 Mr. Greene came to us as a teacher of science and mathematics. In addition to his full time teaching duties, he coached both Varsity and Junior Varsity bas- ketball for 17 years, during which time he was a witness to over 600 contests. He also served as a baseball coach for 13 years and a track coach for 8. During his tenure he developed several championship teams and produced many outstanding athletes. In 1942 Mr. Greene was appointed principal, a position he has fulfilled loyally and capably. Always having a pupil's welfare at heart, he never has found a problem too small to counsel. Few can realize the countless hours he has worked, so diligently, so earnestly, to make our school ever better. The community, too, has shown respect for his ability in their selecting him the Presi- dent of the Village. Mr. Greene has been the only President of Birch Run since its in- corporation in 1955. We are proud to claim this man our friend and advisor, and we sincerely hope that he may spend many more years in our school and community.
