CLASS PROPHECY We, of the class of ’Fifty-four, Desire to open the future’s door; Having abnormal curiosity, We want to know where our classmates will be. So, with the aid of our crystal ball. Our magic wand, our insight, all-- We’ll travel ahead to ’ Seventy-four, Just twenty years and not a year more. A little white cottage with roses we see, And Papa Don Childs with a son on each knee. He’s just returned from a grueling day In the contracting business of making his way. Near him stands Thelma in apron of white. Keeping two of her daughters from trying to fight. All twelve of their kids and Thelma and Don Live in this house with the roses upon. Going a little bit west of Birch Run, We find that Glenn Conner has joined in the fun. On chemicals et cetera he can give us a slant, For he’s head of the Taymouth Dow Chemical Plant. Much farther away from Birch Run, you know. Is our man of the world, Gene Duranseau. He’s finally succeeded in routing out “Ike”, And, As President, speaks from the White House “mike’’. We see Nancy Fent’s kept abreast of the times, And returned at last to the scene of her crimes. She’s back at Birch Run, the high school, we confess, And teaching, of all subjects, English no less! Grease monkey, Ken Gray, has turned at last To something he thinks will make money fast. He’s slinging hash at Cafe Greasy Spoon! ’Twill be his own place someday very soon. Wedding bells rang for Rosemary Grew, And now she has a child or two. Of modeling clothes she has made a career, On T.V. her sponsor is Frankenmuth Beer! “Golden Throat Annie” is the name that they give her And because of her voice men have jumped in the river. Ann Hubinger tops the Metropolitan crew Of mop women! At least we’ll give her her due. Another gal whose heart sore did yearn For her childhood home, and so did return. Is Carol Langley who’s teaching the golden rule To first graders who go to the Rottiers school. Always good at stringing a line, Carol Ann Morse is now doing fine. As Duranseau’s campaign manager, she’s made a big hit! In helping him win, she sure did her bit.
