SENICR CLASS HISTORY August, 1946 On the twenty-third day of this year and month, twenty frightened, innocent children started the first grade at Blppus High School. Our teacher was Miss Ina Phlieger, The pupils were: Sherry Yelter, Jackie Lee White, Dorolyn Strobel, Io Ann Snyder, Keith Slckafoose, Peggy Sell, Jerry Seese, Robert Ripley, Beverly Raber, Dick Norwood, Pete Minear, Judy Lan- caster, Earl Geist, Phyllis Garrison, Linda Fox, Sharon Crago, Karen Crago, Dale Carroll, Mabel Bolinger, and Tom Callison, August, 1947 This year when we came back to school, we found that Phyllis Garrison, Keith Sickafoose, and Karen Crago were no longer with us, but Bryce Whelchel came to join our class, Mrs, Hazel Eby was our teacher in the second grade. We felt quite superior to the first grade. August, 1948 We came back to school with eighteen members in our class and Mrs, Swlhart was our teacher. Mrs. Swihart was more than a teacher to us, she was a friend. She would invite two of us at a time to go home with her and stay all night, This year Jackie Lee White and Jerry Seese left us. August, 1949 ln the fourth grade one student was gained. She was Nancy Furnace, We set up a grocery store in the back of our room, and we had great fun pretending we were efficient store keepers. This year Mrs. Swlhart wasn't able to go on teaching, so we had two substitute teachers, Mrs, Elaine Schen- kel and Mrs, Frances McDaniels. August, 1950 During the fifth grade, Pete Minear, Sharon Crago, and Sherry Yelter moved away, and Ted Campbell, Dorothy Elkins, and Harold Finton came to our class. Mr. Whitacre was our teacher. We elected monitors and safety patrol leaders, We took field trips to Fort Wayne and Bluffton. The boys had a basketball team and played other schools. We also made scrapbooks for the Red Cross to send to the Soldiers Home at Marion. August, 1951 In the sixth grade Sharon Crago came back to our class Mr, Whitacre was our teacher again, At the end of this year we had a farewell party. We went to the movie 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. At this party we had our first datesg the couples were: Linda Fox and Dale Carroll, Mabel Bolinger and Dlck Norwood, Judy Lancaster and Bryce Whelchel, Dorolyn Strobel and Ted Campbell and Beverly Raber and Tom Calllson. We also had a sixth grade graduation ln the school gymnasium. Mr. Sam Blrk was the speaker and we were very proud to have graduated to the seventh grade.
