These were just some of the top name pop groups who visited the Biola campus on Thursday, the tenth of October, 1985. Well, not in person, but im-person- ated. Yes, it was time for the annual AirBand competition. Spon- sored by KBBK, this was the biggest air band competition yet. With some twenty bands each made up of well rehearsed Biolans or just gutsy dare devils the show began around din- ner time with M.C. Steve Bridges leading the way. As the audience of several hundred Biolans gathered in front of the Student Union Building to partake of dinner, they watched and cheered for their friend on stage as they mouthed the words to hit songs and moved their way across stage. When the evening drew to a close and the smoke cleared (literally), two groups stood out. The first runner-up award went to the group, Tri-X. And this year ' s best overall group was Adam and the Way Cools. f S ' - '

Christmas 1985 was highlighted by the first annual Christ- mas tree lighting. Located between the newly constructed University Art Gallery in Marshburn Hall and the Rose Me- morial Library, the school Christmas tree was decorated with red and white lights. Sponsored by the Student Alumni Association the event program began at dusk with traditional Christmas carols sung by the University Singers. As the tree was lit, the Uni- versity Singers were then joined in singing by passers-by who had gathered. Christmas was truly in the air. Finally, after more singing, the evening was topped off with the candle lighting. As each participant held a candle, a flickering flame was passed from one person to another. Each was reminded of the important role they played in God ' s purpose to spread the light of Christ to those around them in the up coming it (
