Personal energy crisis revealed The new decade has arrived. One Challenge the 80's hold concerns energy. Our lifestyle depends on it, and politically it has become a major factor in deal- ing with other nations. The problem is well known to all, yet there remains a certain energy crisis which surrounds, but continues unnoticed. This crisis lies within the individual. Our world is filled with unmotivated, unproducing masses. All types of people: rich, poor, black, white, American, Iranian, Christian, and non-Christian may all encounter this personal energy shortage. Char- acteristics of these people include a lack of purpose, drive, and power in their daily lives. As an electrical appliance must be plugged into the outlet to function properly, likewise we must get plugged into lesus Christ, the source of life, to operate as we were created to. Why are so many people not tapped into Christ? One reason might be that power requires authority, and many people are not willing to let the Lord have complete control over every aspect of their lives. There isn't a soaring price on Christ's power, it's free to all who will simply receive it. Christ has pro- mised to supply all our needs according to His riches in glory. In Revelations, He is compared to a river that will never run dry. When a person feels dry from a lack of power in his life, it is helpful to remember that He who drinks of the living water that Christ gives will never thirst again. As we live in this world of many shortages, it's nice to know that Christ's energy, like a rushing river, can not only refresh us as individ- uals, but also give us the power to live victorously.
