PISANI The Italian Club was organized in the fall of 1947 to provide a cultural background for the Italian students at Triple Cities College. During the first year of its existence the club published its own news- the opera Il Traviatau was one of the highlights of international night, as was the Italian food served by the members of the club. paper, ull Crespuscolon. For the past year, however, the club has incorporated its news in the Tower of Babel , an international newspaper published jointly by the language clubs. The Italian Club's presentation of a portion of FIRST Row: Miss Fargnoli, Geor e D 1 El On March 12, Il Circulo Italiano presented a motion picture version of Rigoletto called Il Re Se Diverte at the Lyric Theatre. With the advent of college activities in the spring semester of 1948, the German Club was initiated to take its place as one of the outstanding features of the extra-curricular life at TCC. The organization, founded by Dr. Ketcham and several interested stu- dents, has grown to prominent size among the lang- uage clubs. The past year has seen the membership roles expanded through the staunch campaigning of Mr. Weigand and the members of the German De- partment. RODN EY KETCHAM Highlighting the club's activity program was the presentation of an Oom-pah band under the direc- tion of George Neumann, and a three-act German skit, l'The Fahrende Schuler presented as a part of the international night program. The German Club, under the direction of Dorothy Walker, contributed to the international newspaper. Club meetings were highlighted by a series of speakers, group singing, and the presentation of several short plays. ROCKWELL El Circulo Hispano is composed of students who are studying Spanish and have organized to learn more about the cultural background of Latin Am- erica. The meetings included lectures by Mr. Rock- well on art and customs, and the showing of several movies depicting life in Mexico, Bolivia, Brazil, and other countries in South America. Tom Bisignani and Al Hansen gave an informative and colorful de- scription of their stay in Mexico during the summer at one of the meetings. The program committee was headed by Elinor Lachmang Pat Bliss and Marie Jimenez were co-chairmen of the committee in charge of writing and editing the Spanish newspaper. The gala affair of the year for the Spanish Club was International Night. The decoration committee was headed by Donald Alford, assisted by Herbert Fry and Robert Koloski. Barbara McGuire, Marian Wesley, Vivian Cook, Marie Jimenez, and Ruth Gilg were on the refreshment committee. Playing his guitar and singing Besame Mucho , Sam Vitale re- ceived several requests for encores from the audience.
