During the spring term the Agapeans sponsored many social activities for their members including square dances, skating parties, and social group par- ties. SILVERTON In October of 1948 the Newman Club of Triple Cities College was formed to promote Catholic Cul- ture and Catholic Fellowship among students of the Catholic Faith. The purpose of the club is to deepen the spiritual and enrich the temporal lives of its members through a balanced program of religious, intellectual, and social activities, to weld the Catholic students into a common union, and to assist the col- lege and its students whenever possible. The Most Reverend Walter A. Forey, Bishop of the Diocese of Syracuse, oflicially approved the estab- lishment of the Newman Club by appointing Father Charles Aylesworth as Chaplain. The members of this club expect to be accepted by the National Federation of Newman Clubs in the near future, thus joining over five hundred interna- tional groups in a common unity.

W ALTER RANDALL 7'remm'er ...... ..... j oAN O'CONNOR Early in the fall of 1948 several interested stu- dents banded together to form the winter sports club. The purpose of the formation of this organi- zation was to make possible the greater enjoyment of winter athletic activities by the students as a group. During the fall term ofhcers were chosen and plans were drawn up in order to provide the club members with the greatest amount of winter sports activity within the limited facilities available. Club- sponsored services included obtaining and showing movies on skiing, skating, and tobogganing to stu- dents. On several occasions, when weather condi- tions warranted, groups of hickory enthusiasts jour- neyed to Montrose, Pennsylvania to use the skiing facilities there. This winter the weather curtailed many activities of the Winter Sports Club. With little continued cold weather and still less snow, many of the planned activities were unable to be carried out.
