INTRAMURAL FOOTBALL Intramural Football continued as the major fall sport at Triple Cities College. An eight team league was formed and got into action immediately after the start of the fall semester. Teams in the league in- cluded, the Goliards, Baccacia, Adelphi, Saiens, I-Iot Peppers, Bonecrushers, Spoilers and Nameless Won- ders. An interesting fact to be noted about the league was that it operated according to intercollegiate foot- ball regulations. The season got off to a flying start on Uctober 5 as Ed Esserman led Baccacia to a 12-0 victory over the Saiens, and a pass from Mike Buran to Denny Bottino gave the Bonecrushers a 6-0 decision over the Goliards. Close, hard fought games such as these were characteristic of the season. League play ended with the Hot Peppers, Goli- ards and Bonecrushers tied for first place. Inclement weather prevented a playoff until well into Decem- ber. The Bonecrushers then beat the Goliards but snow prevented them from playing the Hot Peppers. Tentative arrangements were made for a game to be played this spring to decide the championship. INTRAMURAL BASKETBALL Fast and furious competition was the keynote of the third season of Intramural basketball. Two leagues of six teams each were formed early in De- cember and play started soon after. These leagues, like the touch-football league, were unable to finish their regular season due to lack of playing facilities. XVhen the season was cancelled, the teams in League 'Ai' finished in the following order: Mar- ried Vets, Baccacia, Dionysia, Adelphia, Meddaugh, and Copp House. In League UB it was: Avons, Goliards, Saiens, Nameless Wonders, Hot Peppers, Burans. A tournament was held to decide the champion- ship. In the first round, the Goliards defeated Adel- phi 56-56, Baccacia beat Copp House 43-50, The Nameless Wonders were beaten by the Married Vets and the Bingo Bullets won over the Hot Peppers. In the second round the Goliards were triumphant over the Saiens 76-35, Baccacia beat the Dionysia and the Avons beat the Married Vets. The Avons and Bingo Bullets were eliminated in the semi-finals by Goliards and Baccacia. These vic- tors met in the finals with the Goliards emerging victorious, 112-16, to become Intramural Basketball Champions for 1949. 114
