loosely played contest at Utica. This was another extra-inning affair. Sherm Bletchman spun a neat four-hitter to shut out Keystone College 3-O in a game played at john- son Field. The Colonials scored all of their runs on two hits and an error in the initial stanza. Bletch- man had things in control all afternoon. The Key- stoners gained revenge a few days later on their home held as they slugged out a 9-8 victory. Coach Wel- born laid part of the blame for the loss on a muddy field. Rain at the end of tive innings of play brought a halt to the destruction handed to the State Tech Hornets by the Triple Cities College nine. Five hits scored eleven runs for the Welbornmen while Tech was able to garner only one tally. Big Pete Macan held the Tech batters to four safeties, two of them scratch infield hits, and gave up but one walk. Wel- born's charges received a total of ten free passes as two Tech pitchers couldn't locate the plate. Behind the one-hit pitching of Macan, the Green and Wfhite drubbed Wfilkes College 6-2 at johnson Field. Macan was also batting star for T. C. C. by getting two hits in three attempts. Three errors spoiled a shutout for Pete. Hartwick shaded T. C. C. 3-2 at Oneonta for their second one-run victory over the Colonials. The diamondeers from Endicott were only able to get five safe blows while jerry Flanagan gave up six to Hart- wick. The locals then traveled to Ithaca to absorb a 9-5 beating administered by the Ithaca College nine. Bletchman led the Colonials to victory over the Utica College Tangerines 9-6, to avenge an early sea- son loss. Sherm held the Utes to six hits while strik- ing out four and walking five. Coach Welborn's charges blasted eleven bingles including a double by Carmen Calenti, off two Utica hurlers. T. C. C. started with two runs in the first but the invaders from upstate New York came back with five tallies in the fourth. The Lincoln Ave. nine picked up two runs in the fifth, two in the sixth and added three more in the eighth. Utica garnered one more run in the ninth to end the scoring. Heavener and Brown paced the local attack with two hits each. T. C. C. lost its chance to finish the season with a .500 percentage when the last scheduled game against Wilkes College at Wilkes-Barre was washed Out.

The season's second meet saw the Colonial cin- dermen bow to a stronger R. P. I. aggregation, 69-39, at Troy, New York. Art Rybak, squad captain, captured first in both the polevault and javelin throw, and second in the discus, to spark the losers. Utica College, another extension of Syracuse Uni- versity, played host to T. C. C. in its next meet. The Green and White returned home on the long end of a 70V2-40V2 score, thus gaining its first victory of the season. Art Rybak again took individual honors. In the next meet, at Hartwick, T. C. C. dropped a 72-50 decision to a more evenly balanced Hart- wick track and field squad. Coach Forbes' men gar- nered four first places, three of them in the field events. Klinko scored the only track first in the 220 yard hurdles, while Wilson in the high jump, Rybak in the pole-vault and Callahan in the broad jump gave the green and white its other f1rsts. In the first home contest, against Cortland State Teachers College Frosh, the locals dropped a close one, 59V2-53V2. Hobert Mohney captured two firsts -the 100 and the 220-while Clark broke the tape in the mile and tied for first with Rybak in the pole-vault. In the return meet with Utica College, the T. C. C. run-and-jump boys ran roughshod over their Brethren from upstate by a 69-44 score. George Horkott of T. C. C. was the only athlete to gain a double win. He won the shot-put and the discus throw. The squad finished the season with a won 2, lost 3 record for dual meets. Lack of depth in the run- ning events prevented the tracksters from compiling a better record.
