Executive Assistant to the Principal, and friend to the students. During this time, Mr. Lalley left a deep impression upon the school and the people he knew. Although a summons out of class to Mr. Lalley’s of¬ fice often brought a certain amount of fear, no student can forget Mr. Lalley’s warmth and sincere concern. He always displayed enthusiasm and a strong feeling of pride in the school. Thus, we dedicate this yearbook to Mr. John Lalley, the personification of Central pride. The teachers only shrug and say “It’s just the PAN ANNUAL. They’re at it again.” Pandemonium aside, the PANORAMA ANNUAL works from September to April producing a yearbook. (Some teachers claim we are plotting to overthrow the government of Upper Sxychaczjaulam; others claim we are building the first Bromine Bomb; actually we’re crossing fruit flies with grapefruits.) The Yearbook, under the leadership of Bob “Mad Scientist” Henry, the brain of the organization, and Rita “Mata Hari” Chirumbolo, the body of the organization, endeavors to capture all the exciting and absurd moments of a school year. Mr. Abraham Bernstein attempts to check the plot of the conniving staff and guide them on to fruition. This year, with the theme of “PRIDE,” the PAN ANNUAL promises an unbelievable yearbook. Next year — the book will “self-destruct in five seconds.” 40 Row 1: M. Pasquale, F. Roper, J. Morrison; Row 2: M. Goldstein, J. Purdy, J. Kawashima. A rv. Row 1: D. Bowen, J. Sprague, A. The news, feature, advertising, photography, art and sports staffs constitute a total of some fifty students from all grades. Compiling a newspaper is no easy job. Nor is it a one-man job. Guided by a board of fourteen editors and advisor. Miss Mary Holleran, the Panorama depends upon its reporters for success. The paper provides a place for students and teachers to express their ideas and opinions in the letters to the Editor column. Also, the paper provides, not only news of school and community events, but entertains read¬ ers with the Pa Central column and photo features. The newspaper is arduous but rewarding work. 43 Band Row 1: T. Saunders, N. Pratt, B. Clark, B. Rozen, J. Westcott, C. Doyle, A. Boyajian, J. Schmidt, G. Frost, R. Tiemo; Row 2: E. Duffy, G. Bruce Field’s excellent shooting, Dave Tita’s outstand¬ ing rebounding, Gary Gerdus’s excellent ball-handling ability, Jerry Davis’s dribbhng and outside shooting, and Henry Shu- ford’s one-handers continually led Central to victory. We also cannot forget Bob Zurenda and Tom Whipple, who showed how dependable our bench was. Although Bruce Fields was our only senior, our young team proved that Central is tops in this area. We hope next year’s team will be better, although being better than this year’s team will be hard. Row 1: D. Haines, H. Shuford, M. Bowers, J. Davis, P. Torricco, Coach N. George; Row 2: A. Flora, T. The starting five was Ron Mitchell, Bernie I tano, Tom Feeko, Bill Kaschak, and Scott Smith. Due to an inju¬ ry, Tom Feeko was replaced by a newcomer, George Solyak. Central’s Swim Team, consisting of about 25 members, is under the direction of Coach Roger Wright. The boys practice every day during lunch hour and after school. They are a hard working team and have shown promising qualities this past season. It is a young team and we can look forward to seeing most of these boys next year. They did a great job and we’re proud of them. Wrestling Central Wrestling was in a building stage this year since the team was basically sopho¬ mores and juniors. Led by Mr. Childs, the team worked out everyday after school and sometimes on weekends and vacations. The climax of this season came with a decisive vic¬ tory over North High. Arriving at Greek Peak, everyone trudges up a hill where most of the kids take lessons to im¬ prove their style. Then the whole day is spent skiing or attempting to ski. Occasionally, one might glimpse Coach Nezelek coming down, or see Coach Childs on the bunny slope; or maybe Joe Restino, President of Ski Club, may whiz past doing the cha-cha down the expert trail. But everyone joins in the fun and soon snow bunnies become good skiiers. Then, at the clos¬ ing of the day, the tired group boards the bus and as the last ski is put in place, contented cries are heard . . .
