STUMBLING BLOCKS OR STEPPING STONES Critical judgment and responsibility toward ' Duty, Honor and Country’ will either brighten or darken the future. The habits and attitudes of today relentlessly pro¬ ject themselves into the habit and behavior of our tomorrows. See to it that reason, will power and integrity are stepping stones to happiness and a bright future.” —Willard C. Hamlin Our Principal, Mr. Hamlin 11 MM

MR. JOHN LALLEY In 213, Mr. John Lalley, Executive Assistant to the Principal, directs a well-organized attendance office, contributing much to the over-all improve¬ ment of Central’s student body. In dealing with an individual,’’ Mr. Lalley stated, one should consider his specific problem, give it personal care, and follow-up, at the same time hoping to improve the student’s outlook and his need for a sense of belonging. Once accomplished, he can be channeled to join others in advancing school spirit.” MR. JOSEPH POWERS In a whirlwind of college applications, S. A.T. forms, and program cards, Central’s guidance counselors, Mr. Joseph Powers, Mr. John Brennan, Miss Erma Pren¬ tice, and Mr. Ernest Lalley fulfill their vital duties. The ability of students to heed the call of the future indicates the success of these four advisors. A shining beacon in the darkness of indecision, our advisors light the road toward achieving a profitable and re¬ warding life. By reducing the number of questions about the choice of college or career, Central High School’s guidance counselors perform a great service for the entire student body. MR. JOHN BRENNAN 13
