I Librar nglish Miss Sara Burns, Mrs. Carl Dewing The library, famous in song and story, is the fav- orite haunt of many Centralites. Not only is it well- stocked with sufticient reference material to satisfy the most studious person, but it also provides a convenient place to study during noon hour and after school. Stud- ents intent on completing a term paper or catching up on world events are greatly aided by our two helpful librarians. The English department, headed by Miss Avis Bal- com, strives to-teach the students the importance of our language in today's world. The sophomore and junior years include the study of short stories, plays, essays, biographies, novels, poetry, grammar, and, composition work. Seniors are offered a choice of general English, dramatics, or advanced literature. A student taking these courses will find they will help prepare him for his future career, by improving his technical English and expanding his literary knowledge.
