nu. . , M ilau The Central High mathematics department, headed by Mrs. Blanche Beers, offers a very com- plete program. It offers a wide, advanced course of study for the prospective college student or the student especially interested in mathematics. Besides courses in plane geometry and intermediate algebra, classes in trigonometry, advanced algebra, and solid ge- ometry are available. lntermediate algebra may be taken in either one or two terms, while solid geome- try is available only in the spring term. 1+1-:gg Row 1: Miss Muriel Dando, Mrs. Blanche Beers, Mrs. Edith Calvert. The courses offered by our in- dustrial department inelude mach- ine, auto, and woodshop for boys, and beauty culture for girls. Students graduated from these courses face gratifying careers as machinists, auto mechanics, car- penters, painters, and beauticians. Both chemistry and physics classes are well-liked, be- ing highlighted by laboratory periods where many interesting experiments are conducted. For a science major, ninth grade biology is also required. Typing, shorthand, secretarial practice, bookkeeping, introduction to business, Business law, arithmetic management, orlice practice, and salesmanship help prepare the pupil for a successful and prosperous life in the business of his choice. Language Since our relations with other countries are becoming increasingly important, we are fortunate to have a very complete language department at Central. We are offered two years of Spanish and three years of French and Latin. Fourth year Latin is also available if enough people wish to continue it. Under our capable teachers many students leave Central speaking French or Spanish Huently, andfor having a good knowledge of Latin. Sophomores study what people all over the world have said and done. In the junior year, the growth of our country and the problems faced by our forefathers are examined.
