HISTORY OF CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL AND GYM Locker room shouts have changed from Twenty three sk1doo ' and Oh you k1dl to Id1g ya ' and Roger Dodger ' smce the dream of a new gymnaslum has l1ved ln the hearts of Cen tral students Flnally thxs year the dream has become a reallty Thls 1954 gym IS brand new and was used by the sprlng term students for the flrst tlme m Aprll I'wo years ago the notables of our falr c1ty declded to do somethmg about the lack of athletxc faC111t18S for glrls plus helplng the boys and teams by supplymg better practlce space I'hus began the f1rst plans for the new gym and pool wluch proved to be very lmportant ln the eyes of the students The modern and convenlent Central Hlgh School gym was completed w1th pool gym floor muslc rooms and Board of Educatlon bu1ld1ng durlng the spring term of 1954 No one 1nterv1ewed seems to quxte remember the exact date of the openlng of Central Hlgh School's mam bu1ld1ng It has stood on 1ts Mam Street s1te smce before the turn of the century Of course the orxgmal bu1ld1ng has been replaced by the present one but the latter IS qulte old 1n years and tradltlon The class rooms show the1r age but no pupll would feel at home without 1n1t1a1s carved on h1s desk The marble floored corrldors echo the sounds of former assemblles and the laughter of teen agers 1n flapper outfxts mlddy blouses and sweaters and bobby sox Central Hlgh may be an old 1nst1tut1on of learnmg, but 1ts tradltlon w1ll be kept ahve durmg the present w1th1n the hearts of 1ts grateful alumm and students WK PgOe - . , u n , - ' . , , . 7 Q - 1 7 9 . . 1 Y 9 ' - ' 9 1 ' . 51 1 O 9 F1
