TUBE T T FF SSIST With a birthday cake with only two candles in order, Student Staff Assistants are showing themselves to be up and at em. With Mr. William Bush as advisor, the three score members are growing up to their name filling in any leak or crack vital to the life of the school. All Student Staffites possess report cards and scholastic records that show nothing less than an S average. However, they must have other talents-hospitality as a hostess. a loud voice and an assuming manner in a noon study hall, nimble fingers in the art room, typing and filing ability in the counselor's offices, and inclination toward math in Mrs. Coffman's office, and sympathetic charm in the clinic. By giving one period a day-or four hours a week in service to Centralites, the Staff Assistants receive an award for one year's service. During the fall term Mary Meagher served as President and Ruth O'Connor worked as Historian. These officers were supplanted by Patricia Riley as President and Agnes McIntyre as Historian in the Spring term. Looking forward to its 3rd anniversary, the Student Staff Assistants, have the gratification of serving the school and stimulating school spirit above and beyond the call of duty.

With editorial department, advertising division and rewrite department all located in 320, the Pan had a noteworthy year. Although two issues were missing in action because of war priorities in the print shop, the photographers finally obtained their darkroom and circulation upped to 1300. The two score and ten staff members were headed by Martin Rinker as Editor-in-chief and backed by Mr. Michael Bochnak as faculty advisor. The business editors were Peggy Treyz and Mary Case. As junior journalists the Pan Newspaper staff had headaches and fun almost simul- taneously. No printer's ink was spilled and the Pan went to press five times this year.

BAD Mr. Leo L clfs blue and white garbed bunch have ushed more footballs over the oal YU P 9 line, warmed more feet, and raised more spirits at football games than could the combined efforts of the backs, electric heaters, and a generous numerical edge over the opponent. At pep rallies and parades the Binghamton Central Band has heightened enthusiasm and school spirit in the same manner. The fancy stepping and twirling of Majorette, Norene Deemer, enhanced the performance of the organization when they formed the anchor at the U. E. game. The annual band concert in May featured a medley from Ok1ahoma which was received enthusiastically. Working with the drum corps during the football season, the band did itself, the school, and the team proud. - 1
