y 1 Ruth O'Conner .. HU UH pg. FALL PRESIDENT ADVISOR , Miss Van Deusen - As the goal is the aim of every football halfback, so is Honor Society the goal for every student at Central. Twice a year this society attempts to select at an installation assembly the cream of the crop of Centralites on the basis of school service, fine arts, athletics, and scholarship. This year's crop was ambitious and busy. With Ruth O'Connor as F all President, Iames Morrison as General Officer, and Rose Mansour as Secretary, the activities under the spon- sorship of Miss Edith VanDeusen were well started when Iames Morrison, President: Philip Sweeney, General Officer: and Marjorie Allen, Secretary: took over in the Spring. The real meat of Honor Society is the Talkey, a newsy paper for alumni in the armed forces. The two editors, Virginia Molessa and Catherine Donnelly, keep our sailors, soldiers, and Marines hep to Central's latest jive. This year the athletic committee is preparing the Five Year Roster of Honor Society members. As according to custom the Society conducted the Honor Graduate Assemblies. The gold key of Honor Society is worn by the thirty-eight present members, as a symbol of gallantry in action in scholarship, athletics, fine arts or service.

Jie wellihe.. PA ORA A .ff 6 1,71-, O 41- 'P 66, vt All the news that's fit to print and gossip too can be found in the Pan. With editorial department, advertising division and rewrite department all located in 320, the Pan had a noteworthy year. Although two issues were missing in action because of war priorities in the print shop, the photographers finally obtained their darkroom and circulation upped to 1300. The two score and ten staff members were headed by Martin Rinker as Editor-in-chief and backed by Mr. Michael Bochnak as faculty advisor. The business editors were Peggy Treyz and Mary Case. As junior journalists the Pan Newspaper staff had headaches and fun almost simul- taneously. No printer's ink was spilled and the Pan went to press five times this year.
