Central 1943 A great many graduates say ngoodbyen to Central in 1943...a great many graduates who will depart for Nplaces unknownn...some will work in war plants...a lucky few will set out for college...while the majority will be inducted into the Armed Forces. This Hjump' from the ceremony of graduation to induc- tion is probably the most important step in the lives of these 1943 Graduates. Already many of January 1943 Grad- uates have started their training for warfare...Now many more plunge into this great state of confusion to defend certain rights and privileges. On the far-flung battlefields, the boys will always remember their experiences at Central...and when they are granted a furlough...we know that they will come back to visit their Alma Mater...an Alma Mater that meant so much in the guidance of their destiny. For they realize that it was here, at Central, that they were taught fair play, team work in getting along with their fellow men, discipline, perseverance, self-reliance, admiration for their superiors, and respect for competition. All of these things are con- tributions to the formation of their character and person- ality, which mean so much now and in later life. These Graduates can never forget Central, even in a fast-changing world. They will always respect and honor it, not just as an institution of learning, but as the builder of their lives. The Panorama Annual of 1943 so dedicates its theme, nSchool Lifen, to the students of the future, that they, too, may be as courageous in heart as those past UCentral- itesn, who gallantly went forth to war in 1917-18 to defend world democracy, and those present 1943 fellows, who will soon fight to preserve and protect world peace.
