Dedication We hope that we are presenting you an annual which surpasses any of previous years. It is inevitable there- fore, that we honor one who has been responsible for the conceiving of this project. But she has not only been the guiding spirit of the present annual, she has contributed herself and her talents as well to annuals and current num- bers for many years. Most students know her as the Head of the English Department but we are honoring her expressly for her work on the Panorama. Through a process of white lies and elaborate farces, Miss Carpenter has been kept unaware of this honor to be bestowed upon her. The Panorama Staff would like her to know that they could not publish the an- nual, for which she has worked with boundless patience and infinite interest, for which she has planned and dreamed, and that the book would be incomplete were we not to de- dicate this new and improved annual to miss Florence Car- penter. Foreword We speak often in high praise of some one or more persons who have given us great and faithful service. That is well and should not be neglected, but we of the Panorama Staff have decided to honor a service done for us not by a person but by a building. The Central high school building has contained, sheltered, and even in- spired the students of B.C.H.S. for twenty-five years. It is fitting, therefore, that we recognize this service by making our building, it's rooms, it's halls, it's col- umns and arches, the subject of the theme of the Panorama Annual. We the students of Central are proud of and grate- ful for the gentle beauty of our building which has not deteriorated with it's age but has rather mellowed and approached the dignity which only time could lend to it. We are proud of and grateful for the long green, sloping lawn which serves to transcend silently the school from the noisy clatter of the busy street and we are proud of the entire architectural structure of the building which one can find no longer in modern buildings but which is a welcome and untiring sight to student's eyes. We are glad that we can study in surroundings which seem to of- fer a gentle quietness conducive to the work that we must do. In contrast however, we offer the Panorama Annual, brisk and modern honoring the extensive service 1916- 1940

Charles Morse We have honoured our school building by making it the theme of the Panorama Annual. We praised highly its lawns, its corridors, its rooms and arches. We praised them for their neat and untiring beauty. IS it not fit- ting, therefore, that we also honour the man that made them, then kept them that way. We honoured the school because it had been in its place for twenty-five years. Mr. Charles Morse recently celebrated the twenty fifth anniversary of his unabated service to the schools system of Binghamton, N. Y. as the Buildings Superintendent. Mr. Morse can well be proud of his record, for it is not often that a man can claim a quarter of a century of uninterrup- ted service to one task, the unbelievably mammoth task of keeping the school buildings of a city in good appearance and order despite the ravages of weather, time and over- enthusiastic students. Central can claim a special tie to Mr. Morse for he has had an interest in our activities which has remained undying throughout the years. So for your interest and achievement, Mr. Morse, we salute you. The Panorama Staff
