Below: Biloxi High’s majorettes were among the first to spot pedal pushers, making them part of their early morning pep rally uniforms. Changes: On the Local Front... Over the course of the summer, many changes took place that would affect the daily lives of Biloxi High students. The school dress code was revised to suit the current fashion scene. As pants went to all lengths, girls were permitted to wear slacks such as knickers or pedal pushers, provided that they covered the knee. In the name of comfort, both the male and female population of Biloxi High were allowed at last to attend class in tank tops. After several years of construction, the widening of Pass Road neared completion. Mississippi was eyed as a likely candidate for a nuclear waste site, and Coastians joined forces in protest. Left: Riley Butler. Taking the Plunge Biloxi High students are finally beginning to enjoy the benefits of having an Olympic sized swimming pool on the school’s grounds. Although physical education students ap- preciated the advantages of its sparkling blue waters last May, this will be its first full school year of use. Biloxi High students currently giv- ing swimming lessons to elementary school children in our new pool agree that plunging in- to the waves is a welcome alternative to overheated classrooms and a most pleasant way to revive a fading tan. 9
