To students, past, present, and future, I express cordial good willg my wish for the high school is greatness rather than bigness. To the annual staff and their sponsor, my com- mendationg to the student body and friends of the school, my sincere thanks for the splendid coop- eration, not only in the presentation of this splen- did book, but the other school projects to which you have contributed so willingly and faithfully. I trust that in the completion of this school pro - ject you have recognized the necessity of cooperation and good will, that each has received sornething that will prove beneficial in greater projects which will truly follow. If so, your efforts have not been in vain. Our student annual is a creditable expression of the life, the problems, the aspirations, and the hopes of the students. I trust this yearbook will find a wel- come in the homes of the students of Biloxi High School. Lewis W. Hood, Jr. President I BILOXIF.-:i-'-' 1 BOARD OF EDUCATION it fs 'T O O 0 0 O H. I hope that somewhere along the road you have learned to remember what other peo- ple have done for youg that you have recognized the importance of ignoring what the world owes youg but that you do recognize what you owe to the worldg that you will forget your rightsg that you will recognize your debts and you will ac- ceptyour chances to do more than your part in whatever work of life that is yours. I trust thatyou have learned to lookbehind the faces of people into their hearts and to realize that the real reason for your existence is not what you can get out of other people, but what you can render in the way of service in making your community and the world better by your having lived .n it. My wish to you is that you will, from time to time, think and act along these lines. I will know then that my wishes that you have amost successful life will come true. Whether you have done exceptionally well in the past or exceedingly poor, both will make you better as you enter a new phase of life, for if we are wise we may justly profit in the future by our mistakes as well as by our accomplishments. And for that future my only wish to you seniors who are about to leave is the same that I may wish those who are about to enter the Seventh grade of Junior High and those boys and girls that presently within the high sch- ool level. That is--whatever you do--my wish is that it will be a success which is nothing more than achieving that something for which we strive. And without getting too philosophical, let us go to the ultimate for a moment and decide how we might achieve that goal. lt is simple. In the final analysis there are three ways to success: 1- By our own strength--which is little. 2. By the weakness of others--which is great 3. By the power of God--which is Infinite. To use the one is egotistical and shallow, to use the second is dastardly and mean, and to use the third is intelligent and wise. While we are traveling the road of live we will have to use lor sure our own strengthg the weaknesses of others will necessarily fall our wav: but let these be secondary, and the power of the Creator be our hopes for success in our lives. And may your success be so enriched that it will be an accomplishment ol a job well done by your parents, teachers, and an everlasting contrihnrinn for those that will follow you in your way of life.
