Many Contribute to Bellamy Success Senior High really went all out to get the spirit of Bellamy going. The old gym was turned into an art museum where paintings and sculptures of former BSH students and also some of the teachers' artwork were being displayed You know, Senior has really turned out some talented people! Outside of the gym, letters of congratulations were being displayed and members of the NJROTC kept watch over them. The student body did its job, too. On Spirit Day, a number of students turned out to get the school looking good. Throughout B Week, the spirit was up, the mischief was down, and everyone had a great time Above- AAontana U S Representatives Max baucus and John Melcher and Senators Mike Mansfield and Lee Metcalf hold the Bellamy flag on the steps of the capitol in Washington. i I A V Billings Senior High Receives Bellamy Award The thirty-fifth National Bellamy Flag Award presentation was held in the Lincoln Junior High School Auditorium with Billings Senior High School as the recipient. The audience, consisting of BSH students, graduates, and concerned citizens from the Billings area, listened attentively as each of the representatives from other Bellamy schools presented significant gifts from their respective communities and states. The conbined choirs from Senior High and Wesf High enterfained as Mr. Dale Hallock directed the BSH band. Wayne Gordon, Senior's representative, accepted the award for the student body who broke into wild applause when Wayne proclaimed, Billings Senior is truly Number One! When an award is presented, it can be considered a token of achievement. However, awards must be earned. They are the ultimate symbol of progression. As progression continues, awards become less frequent, but their meaning is of greater significance. We at Billings Senior High are proud to have received the National Bellamy Award and all other awards we have received in our progress to our greatest achievements yet. Whereas the Bellamy award symbolized the progression of a group of people, individual awards are also of great significance. Significantly, the last official assembly held each year is the Awards assembly, at which time the high achievers are rewarded for one or several years' of hard work. Some people say that we attach too much importance to awards. However, it must be remembered that since the Creation there has been a reward for good and punishment for evil. It is in this way that the very morals of society have been created. ■■■
