l ll Y? Below-In Center, BHS cellist jill Tanner performs with All-State Orchestra. Far Below-The Eastern Montana All-State Choir, directed by Dr. Morris Hayes of the University of Wisconsin. Over sixty singers from Billings Senior High participated in this honor chorus. 5 31 ' M gg. Billins was the home of both the Eastern District Music Festival and the Eastern Mon- tana All-State Music Festival. Hundreds of young Montanans took part in the festivals in vocal, orchestral, and band competitions. They were judged in soloes and ensembles by judges from all over the Northwest. Over thirty soloes, ensembles, and groups from BHS received Superior ratings of One from the judges at the State Festival. Highlight of the event was a performance by the All-State Chorus, Orchestra, and Band on the last night of the Festival. Folowing is a list of senior high musicians who received a superior rating at the state festival-Choral-Sophomore Mixed Ensemble, junior-Senior Girls' Ensemble, Senior Women 9 junior Girls' Ensemble, junior Mixed Ensemble Senior Madrigals, Hi-Lo's, Trepp Family Singers, Mutch Duet, Ed Mutch, Laurie Michelson, Clark johnson, Doug Sire, Beth Iwen, Stuart Jackson, Mimi Berger, Berger- Klicker Duet, Lynn Klicker, Pam Turnquist.
