Senior Expands Construction was at a high this year as workers hurriedly completed expansion, im- provements, and remodeling of Billings Senior High. A total of 5805, 000 was spent for these projects. The cost of the gym alone was nearly a half million dollars. The new gym has a seating capacity of 2, 600 people. It has two regulation high school size courts and one college size court. The gym is said to be the largest single hardwood floor gym in the surrounding five-state region. The other monies were used to renovate the theater by installing new seats, a new light booth in the balcony, and additional port lightsg and to remodel the administration officesg and to carpet the library. r7','fJC IWW ' 5 X Above-Construction gets underway. THE FIRST ASSEMBLY HELD IN NEW GYM Billings Senior High unwrapped its new gym on Fri- day, February l5, with its first all-school pep assembly since l959, the last year in which the enrollment permitted the student body to be seated in one facility in our school. Mr. A. R. Collins Jr., BSH principal officially commemorated the new addition with a great big Hellol and a remin- der of Senior's tradition of good sportsmanship and school spirit. The highest point in the assembly occurred when Mr. Les Heins, art teacher here at Senior, christened the gym by giving his BRONCS emblem a kiss. The emblem, which can be seen in the center of the -larger of the three basket- ball courts iregulation college sizel, was painted during Christmas vacation when Mr. Heins sacrificed two of those days towards perfecting the insignia. To further commemorate the opening of the new gym, Principal Collins had stickers reproduced. Those stickers represent the center Broncs emblem with the added touch of a lst in the center to symbolize the first event in the gym and the fact that the Broncs are always first. Top Center-Mr. A. R. Collins, jr., BSH principal, and Mr. George Selover, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, lay the cornerstone as john Fitzgerald, YKC president, looks on.
