Stella's American family: First Row: Mari, John, Mrs. Wold. Mr. Paul Wold. Second Row: Joy. Stella, Lou. Stella Risi, AFS student from Johannsburg, South Africa. Hi Students and staff! My experience in the United States and especially at Senior has meant such a lot to me that I shall never forget what you have individually contributed in order to make my year a truly happy one. I thank you all, singly and collec- tively, for being so open and so much yourselves. My sojourn here would not and could not conceivably have been rewarding and pleasurable to me had each one of you not played a major role in making me feel one of the group . I particularily wish to thank my American family. The thanks I bestow on Dad Wold down to little John Wold is pathetically inadequate to express how much I really appreciate their overwhelming kindness and love and their inclusion of me in their family. They received a young, frightened stranger and are sending me back more mature (I hope), but most certainly more confident and tolerant. As a South African and yet a Montanan I have come to realize the truth of the AFS motto: Walk together, talk together, all ye peoples of the Earth. Then and only then will we have peace. Yours A. F.S. ly Stella Stella and Toni talk to Pete Weggers on Get It On. Stella Risi, a freshman law student at the University of the Witwatersrand in the Republic of South Africa, was the girl AFS student to BSHS this year. She was a member of many clubs including Drama, Elphadonk, and Forensics. She also belonged to Senior Council, Senior Counselors, and track. She stayed with Joy Wold, a Bronc cheerleader, and her family. Much of her year was spent speaking of South Africa to various clubs. Stella will be warmly remembered for her friendly warm-heartedness. Antonio Neto, a senior going to school at Belo Horizonte, Brazil, was the boy AFS student this year. While here, he stayed with Hugh Kilbourne and family. He was active in several activities, including gymnastics. Student Council, and band. He was also a member of Yellowstone Key Club. Tony will be studying for entrance college exams when he returns to Brazil. He hopes to go into the field of medicine.

Fellow students: Judy Witherspoon went to Germany as part of the Volkswagon exchange program. Judy and Bob discuss their rewarding experiences as exchange students. Although my trip to Germany was not sponsored by the school, I am grateful to those who selected me and made such a wonderful experience possible. I was one of thirty-nine students chosen from around the United States to participate in the 1969 Volkswagon Exchange Program. I lived for seven weeks with the Wohrl family in Hannover. Neither my German father nor my German mother could speak a word of English, but my brother Hans Georg, could speak it almost fluently. The only other member of the family was Gisela, the Wohrl niece. However, since she was living with my family in America most of the time I was in Germany, I did not get to know her very well. 1 feel very fortunate and grateful to have had such a meaningful experience. Not only did I get to meet many new and fascinating people from all over the world, but I also developed greater insight into myself. I think most of all, however, I learned never to take for granted my wonderful family, friends, and country. Judy Witherspoon The Wohrl family hosted Judy during her AFS month in Germany.

Walk Together, Talk Together All Ye Peoples of the Earth Dear Students, When I was asked to put down a few lines for the KYOTE, I confess I had the feeling I was running into trouble. I knew it would be too hard for me to condense everything I would like to say. Since I first arrived here I was impressed by the way I was received by the community, by the kindness of the students and teachers, and by my host family. This was an accomplishment essential to my success here. I was used to stopping at Mrs. Hutton's office, just to say hello. Generally those brief stops lasted for hours when I received her wise advice and opinion. My involvement in activities such as key club, band, gymnastics, and student council provided new insights and acquaintances with the students. The new knowledge acquired through the classes which I attended will be of the utmost use for they broadened my knowledge. 1 am sure you can see why I felt that inevitably there will always be a Senior High memory among my best ones. It is hard for me to express my gratitude to those who I got to know and to those who helped me because it means more than these two words: Thank you! Toni Neto, AFS student from Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Yours Sincerely, Tony Tony's American family: First Row: Mr. James Kilboume, Tony, Mrs. Kilbourne. Second Row: Burt, Kathy, Hugh, Margaret, Tom, Ann, James. 29
