Delegates to the 1967 Girls’ State convention were Kris Hagstrom, Mary Jo Hilde, Susan Hendrickson and Nancy Morris. Girls' State was held June 22-30 on the Montana State University campus. The girls were divided into two parties and given gold and blue beanies to represent their party. By participating in mock elections and holding offices, the girls learned about the functions of government. The girls got to keep their beanies as souvenirs of their week at MSU. Girls Staters Kris Hagstrom, Nancy Morris, Susan Hendrickson, and Mary Jo Hilde. Four Seniors Attend Girls State Girls staters participated in campaigns, elections and law- making. Susan and Kris were members of the blue beanie party. 20

Choirs Present Christmas In Song Mr. Brandvold, we didn't mean to forget the words! The annual Christmas concert drew a full house in ’67 with the presentation of ’’Christmas in Song. As al- ways, the chorus department was directed by Mr. Brandvold and included Varsity Singers, A Cappella Choir, Girls A Cappella, ensembles and sev- eral solos. The success of the concert was also due to the efforts of the stage crew with beautiful lighting effects and pictures made by BHS art stu- dents. The concert was nar- rated by Mark Jones. Girls A Cappella translates the meaning of Christmas through songs. 19

Boys Staters Bill Westwood, Greg Schneider, Bob Story, Chad Martin, Walt Nelson, John Schneider, Dan West (second row), Out of thirteen BHS delegates to Boys’ State, Chad Martin was the only one to return with a state office, that of Associate Justice to the Supreme Court. The purpose of Boys’ State is to help Chad Martin was the only Senior High boy to get a state office. John Ashcraft, John Murphy, Paul Jakab, Pete Lazetich, Skip Heald and Stuart Jackson. the boys learn about and understand the pro- cesses of government. All the boys got T- shirts as souvenirs of their trip and, although they felt that the convention could be improved, they agreed that it was an interesting experience. Paul Jakab practices functions learned at Boys State. 21
