Barb Returns From Australia Barbara, wearing her school uniform from Australia, tells Mrs. Barbara Grainger Hutton about her years as an AFS student. In January of 1967, after a year in Australia as a foreign exchange student, Barbara Grainger returned to BHS. In Australia Barbara lived with the Don Phillips family in Sydney, a city of 2 1 2 million people, which was quite a change from Billings. Barbara attended the Jannali Girls School with her sister , Cathy. Barbara visited a mining town in the sheep country of Australia, the capital city, Camberra, and Kingscl iff, where the Phillips rented a beach house for three weeks. Cathy, Linda, Jenny, Joann, and Mrs. Phillips look on as Barbara feeds a baby kangaroo. Barbara’s sister, Cathy, models her school uniform. 27

Jorge poses for Kyote photographers with his two sisters, brother, and parents in the Balestra home where he lived during his year at BHS. BHS Welcomes Jorge Fidalgo I want to thank all the school, who by their kindness and hospitality have given me in Senior High a fantastic year which I will always remem- ber. The whole student body has changed the rather bad idea I had about the American people into a fabulous one, which I hope to get around in Spain. Again, thank you very much indeed to every- one of you. Jorge and Jim practice their song for AFS Follies. Jorge forms the center man in a pyramid structure made up of ’’Ralph s Rangers.” Jorge studies during class in one of the new rooms in the annex. 26
