Last summer Janet Hudgens, Lila Jean Weber, Nancy Marsh, and Linda Stratford represented Senior High at Girls' State in Bozeman, Speakers throughout the week were Miss Harriet Mil- ler, Superintendent of Public Instruction, and Governor Tim Bab- cock. The delegates attended meetings in six imaginary cities, three from the Blue Party and three from the Gold Party. There were city, county, and finally state elections during the week. A senate and house of representatives, were formed. After appoint- ments by the governor, formal legislation was passed by the congress and sent to the governor. This study of governmental procedure terminated with a ceremony in which delegates re- ceived their pins. Dick Wise, Bob Homes, Don Hegland, M ike Conaway,and Greg King were elected to on office ot Boys' State. BOYS’ STATE: Dick Wise. Dave Butler, Don Hegland, Mike Conaway, Greg King, Jerry Jacobsen, Bob Eames. NOT PICTURED: Ron Langworthy. Boys’ Staters Travel To Dillon Don Hegland and Dick Wise model their Boys' State shirts. Last year during August 16 boys were selected by their teach- ers and classmates as delegates and alternates to Boys' State in Dilloh. The delegates were Jerry Jacobsen, Dave Butler, Bob Eames, Dick Wise, Don Hegland, Greg King, Ron Langworthy, and Mike Conaway. Alternates were Bob Jones, Beni Marchello, George Ryan, Tom Dobbins, Bill Lowe, Leroy DiPasquale, Dave Elza, and Ron Pierce. A Sceni-Cruisertookthedelegates plus 44 other boys to Western Montana College for the convention. Ac- tivities during the week were rallies, swimming, tennis, and hoot- enannies. The delegates attended addresses by Governor Bab- cock, Professor Lubback of Christian College, and Kurt Peters, a German immigrant. Tony Gomez entertains the audience with his guitar and with his voice. Terry Jordahl, JoAnn Clark, lerry Mattison, and Phyllis Fuchs sing along with the rest of 16-voice during the Follies. Scott Gunderson, Corolyn Gerdes. Paul Hudgens, and Mike Story-better known as The Group'-begin one of their folksongs. Punctuating his presentation with a grimace, Craig Ball interprets Don Brown's Body”. Ken Davidson, as Professor Ein-Swine, introduced the A.F.S. Follies around the theme of Poof! See it Appear Before Your Eyes”. Assisted by Sherrie Davis and John Pulosky, the little chemist presented the acts for the show with the help of a magic thimble. A few of the performers were: Terri McPhee, who did a twirling routine, Tom Blankenship and Mark Foos playing Downtown”, Craig Ball, who presented Don Brown's Body”, the majorettes, and Senior High's A.F.S. students-John Craw- ford and Elbio Rosselli. Singing was provided by 16-voice, The Group, JoAnn Clark and Mike Walters, The Folksingers, Tony Gomez, and The Wanderers. Richard Peterson, Mel Lervick, and Terry Jones comprise The Wanderers. 18
