FOREWORD The school and the city are two interrelated elements in society. Although the school is the background of a student ' s thoughts and activities, it is only a part of the city. The city, on the other hand, represents one ' s entire environment. It includes homes, churches, factories, librories, museums, schools, parks, theaters. The school ' s main function is to teach students to live in and to take charge of the city. Because of this function, the city is dependent upon the school. From schools come future citizens of the city with whatever knowledge, ambitions, and ideas they have accumulated during their school life. A.city can be only as good as the students who graduate from its schools. Recognizing the importance of the relationship between the school and the city, the Kyote Annual Staff illustrates the affinity between the two through the pages of this book.
