'Brown Uiuns Office Mrs. Lynn Brown has been the secretary of our school since 1946. She is assisted by Mrs. Rhea Langworthy, who is in charge of purchase orders, and twentyftwo office girls. She trains the QD's on how to run the mimeograph and ditto machines and to take attendance. Mrs. Brown added After seven years, l still enjoy my work. Each class is different but inter- estingf' .CRoom Representatives-Ruling .Hand of Student 'Body Two students from each second period class and the nine class officers form the room represent- atives group. These people are elected by their classmates and given their approval to vote in their behalf. The group meets approximately once a month guided by President lack Underwood, Vice Presi- dent Eud Leuthold and Secretary Shirley North. Prin. Charles E. Borberg acts as an adviser to this group. During this past year the group Bias concentrated on school spirit. They have been successfulp school spirit and loyalty at sports events has been ini- proved and the general attitude of the school has been raised. ln April the council presented a very successful Cpen l-louse. This is the second year that this has been presented to the general public and both times it has greatly improved the relationship between the community and school. Donaleen Tait was in charge of this proiect. The group also took it upon itself to work with the Eyas committee and help with next year's ini- tiation. Phyllis Ammon headed this group. My of- fice is just like Grand Central station, for through it passes a cross-section of the lives of the most interesting group of girls l could find anywhere. That is what makes my work sirens uous, but far from monotonous. The reward lies in watching each girl learn to be a real person in her own right, to do her own thinking and to work with and for other people in the American way. Dean of Boys, Mr. Earl L. Collins, says: Students should grow in trust and discrimination, kindness and courage, integrity and generosity, iustice and tolerance as they pro- gress through Billings highschool. Borberg says: It is always with a feeling of regret that we see a class approach the end of its senior year. We have come to know well its indi- vidual members. We have seen them make the greatest advance in their intellectual and social development which they will ever make and we have seen them grow from children into young men and women. We have personal satisfaction for their achievements and honors and a sense of frustration for their failures. Our regret ,though, is alleviated by our pride in their accom' plishments and our optimism for their future. Next fall, nostalgic and reluctant, we become aware that a new class of young and eager students are storm- ing our school and that the whole process of highschool education must begin again. Yet we too have learned and we feel that this time perhaps we will be able to help this new class to do even better. Our goal in public education is to produce citizens who as individuals are better informed, more respon- sible and more articulate than those of the preceding years. Your future action will prove whether twelve years of schooling at public expense was worth the time and money expended.
