Florence McQuillan wields a mean paper cutter while Eleanor Deichl taps a merry tune on the typewriter. But all this is not enough to distract Tom Zierten as he consults files. No one can say that the office is not a busy place. Jerry Porter, Mim McCracken, Jerry Hummel, Barbara Carpenter and Ed Geraghty can easily prove that point. Margaret Lutgen locates a student from the files while Arnold Deichl smiles because he is making out the tardy slip—not receiving it! s T A F F Sponsored by Eaton Metal and McArty’s Restaurant Central Activity Council Officers are: Mr. Kayle, Treasurer; Father Powers, School Superintendent; Mr. Glennon, President; Mrs. Burns, Secretary; and Mr. O’Con- ner, Vice-president. The council winds up another year of sponsor- ing many activities at Central and we all know it is a job well done. “Keep to the right.” “Single file.” “Don’t block the halls.” These are familiar sounds as Central’s proctors direct traffic in the halls between classes. Remember the night of our first dance when we were just freshmen and how grown-up we felt? But that was before initiation. The sophomores soon showed us where we stood. And then, before we knew it, the year had slipped by and we were “mighty sophomores” ourselves. Then we did feel important, torturing those new little freshmen. But the Sisters were th2 ones to deflate our ego that year. We had adopted the title of “sophomorgues,” much to our humiliation. That was a diffi- cult year, remember? But it was one of the best years of our life and we’ll never forget it. Time waits for no man and soon we were juniors. That was a year of hard work mingled with great fun. And then how great big we felt; but we soon discovered we only had a slight case of “junioritis.” Remember our prom? Our junior-senior prom. We were all “Strangers In Paradise” when people told us that it was the most beautiful prom they’d ever seen. As we look back now, we smile a little as different memories crowd our minds—for we are seniors at last, getting ready to graduate. Our senior year, too, has been wonderful. All the dances and games and feeling of importance. We have been the leaders this year and for the first time in our lives we are a little frightened as we think that maybe soon we will be real leaders—for the world lies ahead of us. But, in the many years to come, we’ll glance back now and then on those days that have drifted by and we’ll still smile a little (with perhaps a tear in our eyes) as we say to each other, “Remember When . . .?” JOAN BERMES “Art is the voice of the soul.” Thespian 3 . . .
