I l Billerica Memorial High School Billerica, Massachusetts Class of 1967 Zn Memoriam Two roads converged in a wood, I chose the less trav- eled. These words from Frost spoken by our late beloved principal at the graduation of the Class of 1966 could well serve as a meaningful summary for the entirety of Mr. In- graham's adult life. Active, courageous, seeking always new ideas and new impressions, he will be remembered as a man of patience, fairness, and humility. From the beginnings of our associa- tion with him on an academic level, to the more endearing memories of our personal relations, it is certain that the characteristic of individuality stood out always. To the fond remembrance of him as a person, a man, an individual, we, the Staff of Warrior '67 and the Class of 1967, dedicate this Yearbook. 2 X XMB If X x f , f 1 A-QS,-,2frP'x J' -452 77 W L5 X wwy Lx-X QW! 1 X 2 X 0,5 ' Ar: Y xelff- -' -fs - ' 15,5 ' U Q Q , -317' ' Gur Teachers Counselors and Leaders f, XXX Iliff X f f N X O Mrs. Ahern German: World History Mrs. Breen English . ' i gg One difference between the formally educated man and the self- made man is that one has the benefit of a motivating environment and the other labors without the assistance of this nourishing climate. The physical school plant, the faculty, varying methods of instruc- tion, textbooks, and the existing curriculum are merely contributing factors to this total environment and are not the proximate causes of education since every truly educated man is self-educated. As in every field of endeavor, significant results are usually di- rectly proportionate to the amount of willingly expended effort. Little effort is equated to poor results. Enquire of yourself to what degree have you expended true effort during your secondary school years and if this self-analysis is found wanting, resolve and endeavor to attain that level of achievement in life of which you are capable. Your self-education is in its embryonic stage and will mature only with your constant application and your dedication of effort toward the attainment of desired goals. Class of 1967 remember this, it is not what you are at eighteen, it is what you become that is truly significant. J. David Nuttall Principal 12 I-'24 'pun' Congratulations graduating class of 1967 on receiv- ing your high school diplomas. I sincerely wish every- one the very best of health and success in the years ahead. Continue to be good citizens, friendly and co- operative, and you will always get along in life. William V. Archambault Vice-Principal Now that you have completed your high school edu- cation, you are about to take a place of more grave responsibility in life. The education you received at B.M.H.S. should provide a lirm foundation for meeting this new responsibility. May I wish you success, health, and happiness in whatever lies ahead. For those of you who will be asked to serve, may you fulhll your obligations in an honorable way. John D. O'Brien Vice-Principal 1 I h Mrs. Currie Secretarial Personnel 14 Mrs. Ly M D Mrs.S h I am pleased to have this opportunity to congratu- late the Class of 1967 in achieving the successful com- pletion of four years of High School. I sincerely hope that you will be successful in your field of endeavor. Frederick C. Riel Superintendent of Schools ,wil -411 ony 'ug 115- It has been said that a camel is a horse put together by a committee. The 1967 graduate of Billerica Memo- rial High School created through the cooperative effort of parents, teachers and administrators proves that this joint effort is a tremendous success. Congratulations to each and every member of the graduating class. The standards of my day are no longer applicable. Today's pupil is required to work harder, study longer, and possess far greater knowledge than ever before. You have been given the finest edu- cation ever offered in the Town of Billerica. By suc- cessfully completing this task you have proven your ability to meet the increased demands of the sixties. Such success is worthy of only the highest congratula- tions. As for the future may God bless you with good for- tune and if I can add an old Irish saying May you live as long as you want, and never want as long as you live. William H. How swiftly time passes? Four short years ago, B.M.H.S. opened its doors to a new class of Freshmen, comprised of distinct individuals each concerned with his own problems. As graduation nears for this class, it has become a unit of which we can be proud. The Senior Class of 1967 has set a good example for future classes. Rarely do we find a class as a whole so cooper- ative, so determined to work toward a common goal, so willing to consider others. It was my pleasure to be advisor to such a class. Those who fear for the future or our nation have much to learn from this group. I would be remiss in my duties, if I didn't leave you with a last word of advice. Don't lose the enthusiasm that you demonstrated. It brought you far as a class. It will serve you as well in your life's choice. A good idea never matures without it. Traditionally classes shower thanks either earned or unearned on their advisorg I wish as advisor to shower thanks upon you. Mr. Perron Advisor It is infrequently that a class has the unique oppor- tunity to work with a man as interested and dedicated as you have been to the task of guiding the class of 1967 through these past four years. We should now like to take this occasion to extend to you in our Year- book our deepest and most sincere gratitude for your unselfish and untiring devotion to the Class. Your quiet inspiration and untiagging patience have served as a model to all of those who have had the privilege and pleasure of working with you. Billerica conducted the Small High Schools Girls' Bas- ketball Tournament, formerly held in Ashby, and was Run- ner-up with undefeated Acton-Boxborough defeating us in the final minutes of play, 35-32. Captain Lorraine Bavis and Joanne Baroni were selected to the All-Tourney Team and Joanne Baroni was the recipient of the Tournament's Most Valuable Player Award. Although not individually recognized, additional credit should be given for outstanding playing to seniors Barbara Mulligan on offense, and Patricia Price on defense, and sophomores Pat Robertson and Rose Brantley on defense not only throughout the tournament but also throughout the season. In addition to Lorraine Bavis, Patti Price, Barbara Mulligan and Joanne Baroni, other seniors who will be truly missed are Eileen Hynes, Bobby Turner, Kathy Cooney and last but not least, our very efficient man- ager, Jackie Braley. While not a championship season, it was relatively successful, and most enjoyable. 89 Girls Varsity Won K Lost Record Billerica Billerica Billerica Billerica Billerica Billerica Billerica Billerica Billerica? Our class rings arrived, much to our content Along with victory in the Ashby Tournament. Early in spring we commenced to slosh Through the suds and puddles of our great Car Wash. Then came a time for full class recreation With the commencement of our Prom decoration. Three Coins in a Fountain came Of? with finesse, Followed by the induction of the N.H.S. With the conclusion of our third stretch of work drawing near, We awaited the time of our senior year. IV The year began with a great upset In the structure of our leadership quartet. A masculine viewpoint entered this set-up With Jerry Baker Secretary, and President, Gary Bishop. Mr. Perron, our advisor, with the o1?icer's mind pool, Chose as our class gift a Peace Corps School. To raise the funds, the class knew its duty, All working in a candy sale and a supper of spaghetti. Class pictures arrived with a vast assortment of smiles and frowns, And all were measured for caps and gowns. When our last set of mid-years had passed away, Work commenced on The Mouse That Roared, our senior play And safe within their little nook A small staff worked ahead towards a great yearbook. And then the Senior Prom became the hub Of our activity, its scene the Andover Country Club. Conclusion Ultimately we all await with elation That final day of graduation, When each will leave what he has known And walk out into the world alone, Equipped with the knowledge he has learned, To find the future he has earned, To live his life, perhaps in pain, perhaps in self-made heaven- God bless you, Class of '67! 121 Awe 0 Freshman Class i GK' i U 1 1 9- f'lt'Kf!ft'I1f, Nancy McMenimeng Vice-Presizlent, Sandra Man- S'9 ningg .S'vz'f'ct11ry, Jill Collier: Trwmzrer, Deborah Porterg Ad- xlwr, Mrs. BFCCD I I S-10 S-13 M-ll 0 H M-14 M13 M M12 G-8B 123 HH 6 G -X A G64 0690 G-65 6.66 4.5- G-69 Sophomore Class n l . - 1 gy A: I I M-65 President, Joanne Tiltong Vice-President, Laurel Cantyg Secre- tary, Marge Wheatong Treasurer, Madeline Meehang Adviser, Mr. Jahnle '5 M-38 M-61 egg M -5 7 M-55B M-55A . l Z' ' i 5 an 5 m am m m, M-44A M-39 M-40 Vi 1 K .
