BASKE Basket ball wh1ch shares w1th base ball the honor of belng the blggest sport at Blglervllle Hlgh IS but in 1ts lnfancy Spasmodlc attempts to orgamze teams have been made for the past four or five years but lt was not untll th1s year that a credltable team was put on the floor and a real schedule of games played The lnterest of all puplls 1n the welfare of the team has been augmented by the mcreased publ1c1ty the qumtette has glven the school The town folk have supported us heartlly and altogether the season has been one of great success Handicapped from the very start by the lack of sultable playlng quarters we had our d1ff1cult1es to overcome Thru the generoslty of Mr U S Klem felter we secured a playmg floor whlch altho was not 1deal nevertheless was a place ln Wh1Ch to play Whlle the season may not be counted a success when the number of games won IS the basls of judgement or the number of pomts scored IS taken 1nto consideration every game was played ln a sports manlxke manner and a hard clean fight g1ven every team When the call came for candldates ten men put ln an appearance The coachlng was done by Mr Muehe assxsted at tlmes by Mr C E Myer The regular team got xnto shape early ln the season Twenty two games were played and of th1S number eleven games were won and eleven games lost Blglervxlle scored four hundred s1xty seven polnts compared wlth four hun dred S1Xty nme scored agamst our boys We played teams far out of our class because of the 1nab1l1ty of schedulmg teams from schools of our s1ze The most notable vmctory of the season was the defeat of Chambers burg Hlgh School by a 30 to 24 score The glrls also had a team playlng several games The season was mlghty successful from a fmanclal po1nt of VICW Econ omy and good management on the part of Manager Mark H Knouse was responslble The team more than pald expenses A good nucleus for a f1ve next year remalns altho we expect to lose three varslty men by graduatlon Here s hopmg that 22 23 wlll see Blglerville agam on the basket ball map CWW Sllllll fllfwl llflal : JE' ill ' pl vf4alIl'lf1 p 55' 9 Hunwltllv 'V A U lleuivm nf the Hear Page Tueniy three
