Time was, time is, time shall be, the theme for the District IX Convention, hosted at Bigfork, helped to establish a good working basis for this year's program of work. In pursuing the realization of FHA's goals, the Chapter has worked enthusiastically to draw the members together. Our pie sales, Spook Insurance , cake raffles, and tournament sales proved to be a great success because of our team work. The FFA, or Future Farmers of America, is an organization com- posed of students enrolled in vocational-agriculture classes. Based on a 12 rather than 9 month program, the FFA has summer activities like camping trips, fair booth displays and exhibits at Kalispell and Great Falls, and improvement of supervised agricultural experience projects. Bigfork FFA members compete with other chapters throughout the state in such areas as livestock and crop judging, plant use and identification, mechanics skills, and written and practical tests on parliamentary procedure and general agriculture. How to conduct meetings, speak in public, cooperate together and develop leadership ability are basic foundations upon which the FFA operates. Our many activities include sending delegates to the National Convention in Kansas City and the State Convention in Bozeman. Others are our annual parent-son banquet, Greenhand contest for freshmen, sponsoring the Tiny Tyke Rodeo and applying for awards on the state and national levels.
