THE BIGFORK HIGH SCHOOL ANNUAL STAFF PRESENTS LE LAC 1966 DEDICATION Although we, the class of '66, have had many excellent advisors over the past four years, one has earned a special place in our hearts. He guided us through many trying situations; and, more important, he taught us, by his example, the valuable lesson of determination and self-sacrifice. This example has continued to influence our decisions and often has brought us a pleasant memory. Perhaps he will be most remembered for his genuine interest in us, not only as a class, but as individuals. For him, none of our problems was too great, and none was too small. It is with pride that we, the seniors, dedicate our Le-Lac to Mr. Allan Benson, teacher, advisor and sincere friend. 2 FACULTY AND ADMINISTRATION SUPERINTENDENT’S MESSAGE Education, to me, means the training of bodies and minds into perfect exercise and kingly countenance. It is a painful, continual and difficult task to be done but it can be accomplished by kindness, by watching, by warning, by precept, and by praise, but above all— by example. It has been said that education is like a double edged sword. It can be turned to dangerous usages if it is not properly handled. The faculty joins me in the wish that each of you, in your years spent here at Bigfork High, has obtained the education which will create the desire to open new doors of learning for you. We hope that this learning will be directed into the proper channels so as not to become a dangerous thing. J. H. Adding bits of humor were the antics of the soldiers and General Snippet, the halucinations of the nervous Professor Kokintz, and the purple grape-stamping feet of the peasant Ann and the WAC's. The sophisticated Gloriana saved the Duchy of Grand Fenwick from finan- cial disaster through Tully Bascom, the worthy and heroic forest ranger. Those three performances will certainly be long remembered as one of the best plays ever presented at BHS. 22 The fearless Tully! THAT ROARED” Is that all, sir? The Three Muskateers! Merely a rubber stamp at the beginning of the year, it assumed more financial control of organizations and general authority, until at the close of the year it had become the most powerful Student Council in the history of Bigfork High School. Christmas cards and other Christmas material was sold by the members of the chapter in December, and ice cream bars at the district tournament in February. A sizeable profit was made from these ventures. A joint anti-smoking campaign was carried out with the cooperation of the Bigfork FHA Chapter. A window display was exhibited during National FFA Week in February'. The highlight of the year was the Annual Parent and Son Banquet in May, presided over by President Rik Brosten. The Vikettes presented colors, and per- formed pompon and baton routines at home games this year. They also presented a pom- pon routine at the District Tournament in Poison. To help pay for new uniforms and pompons, they sold pop at the Tournament and had a bake sale. Vikettes posed for a picture in their new uniforms after a per- formance. 61 JUNIOR VARSITY CHEERLEADERS FRONT ROW, Left to Right: Bud Leach, Jerry Allen, Pete Pierce, Dave Benson, Ron Martin, Dan Averill, John Mundhenk, Ed Wellman, Kris Wade; MIDDLE ROW: Bob Morris, Rod Brosten, Rik Brosten, Roy Fritz, Craig Milam, Rick Uren, Ron Baird, Mel Brekhus, Jerry Evans, Bill Butts; BACK ROW: Roger Nelson, John North, Jack Eddy, Jim Aklestad, Steve Hullet, Gary Kennedy, Ray Hein, Marvin Sudan, Jim Graytak, Wally Wellman. this page is sponsored bv DAVIS ELECTRIC AND PLUMBING FOOTBALL ENDS GUARDS man, Jack Eddy, Rod Brosten, Ron Baird.
