LE LAC 1965 Co-editors Business Managers Kent Bolstad Charles Knapp Johnny Me Shane Judy Sears NEW BIGFORK HIGH SCHOOL I I! Ili III mm. BHS students moved into a new high school in November of 1964 with an enrollment of 150 students. The 1964-1965 school year was the first complete academic year in the new building. Cost of the building, designed by Gehres Weed of Missoula, and built by Collins Construction Company of Kalispell, was $188, 000. 2 SUPERINTENDENT’S MESSAGE I wish to congratulate the senior class of 1965 for their fine record in the Bigfork School. I know for many of you your formal education will be furthered this fall at the college or university level. The past few years you have been preparing yourselves for the rigors of college. You are well equipped to enter the field of your choosing for further study. In these times of continued tumult and crisis, at home and around the world, it is of utmost importance that we develop the abilities and intellect of our young people if you are to provide the wisdom and leadership necessary to continue our way of life. Make the most of your college career. Use your time and instructors wisely. Never will such a few years mean so much to you and our country in terms of income, leader- ship, satisfactions, and life's work as the time spent in college. For those of you who are terminating your formal education, I sincerely hope that these past years of schooling will help enable you to take advantage of the situations and opportunities which await you. To all of you I wish success in whatever you do. Sincerely, J. H. Eslick We, the class of '65, in appreciation of the help they have given us throughout our four years of high school wish to dedicate this edition of the Le Lac to our parents. Even though we have been at the point of desperation some- times, they have encouraged us and given us the strength to go on. They have made us continue studying when we wanted to do otherwise. Without their enthusiasm, their perseverance, their persuasion, these four years at BHS would have been almost too much for us to master. Therefore, it is with pride tha we dedicate this yearbook to our parents. 4 HELEN ANDERS B.A.; English III, IV; Library; Bay Breeze and Vikettes Advisor WILBUR ANDERS B.M.; B.M., M.M. Ed. The memories of our four years at BHS will always linger with us as we each go our separate ways. We began high school numbering 26. The leaders of th 1961 freshman class were Dave Stahl, president; Mike Heath, vice-president; Kathi Fagerland, secretary; and Marry Jayne Reed, treasurer. We suffered the usual freshman hardships, which includ- ed initiation and the painting of the B . Our sophomore year we added three members, and totaled 29. Kent Bolstad was elected to head the class, with Carolyn Ramsfield, vice-president; Linda Gilmore, secretary; and Bill Sudan, treasurer. This was our year to hand out the punishment! We initiated the freshmen, lorded over them while they painted the B , and then tromped them royally in the annual Frosh-Soph baseball game. Kent Bolstad again led our class, of thirty members. Vice-president was Chuck Knapp; secretary, Carolyn Ramsfield; and treasurer, Kathi Fagerland. The 1963-64 school year was a fun-packed year filled with many activities. Our class play, Home Sweet Homicide , was considered a big success as was our talent show Rocket To Stardom . We also sponsored the Junior Prom, Days of Wine and Roses , which was preceded by a banquet at Orly's But fondest of all will be the memories of our senior year, with Carolyn Ramsfield, president; Claude Boiteau, vice-president; Lou Ann Bjork, secretary; and Chuck Harris, treasurer. This year, we put on the Christmas Ball, Silver Bells . Our biggest under- taking was the production of the 1965 Le Lac. Senior pictures were taken at Tobias' in Kalispell. We were guests at the Junior Prom which was preceded by the annual Junior- Senior Banquet. The culmination of our four years at BHS came on May 31 when we graduated with 29 members in our class. 22 23 24 J N S President . . . Vice President Secretary. . . Treasurer . . Advisor . . . .
