THE BIGFORK HIGH SCHOOL ANNUAL STAFF ' PRESENTS BIGFORK PUBLIC SCHOOLS 'EDUCATION MAKES PEOPLE EASY TO LEAD, BUT DIFFICULT TO DRIVE; EASY TO GOVERN, BUT IMPOSSIBLE TO ENSLAVE.' SUPERINTENDENT’S MESSAGE Congratulations, Seniors of 1959. You have success- fully completed twelve years of schooling. 1 sincerely hope that this is not an end to your education. You need not go on to a school of higher learning to further your education but by honest upright citizen- ship you can enrich yourself and the community in which you live. I hope that in our school at Bigfork you have developed the ability to do things, that you have developed con- fidence in yourself and established a goal to attain. If you have confidence in yourself and the willingness and ability to work, you have no fear of the future. Mrs. BARTON Her laugh and smile are familiar . . . Give her a type- writer, telephone, and a problem: she's content! Being the office secretary means real work, and there’s plenty that Mrs. Barton does in the Bigfork office. DEDICATION Mr. Paul Milam Mr' Joe Esliek We, ihe class of 1959, are grateful for this opportunity to show a small amount of appreciation to the ones whose unselfish contribution of work and time have done so much to make this book possible. It is with much pleasure and pride that we dedicate this 26th edition of Le Lac to our teacher, superintendent, sponsors, and friends . . . Mr. Joe Esliek and Mr. Paul Milam. 4 v FACULTY PAUL HUDSON Science and Math Student Council Advisor B.A., B.S., In Education M.A. in Zoology MARILYN FEHLBERC Commercial Advisor of Juniors Advisor of Pep Club Twirlers B.S., Business Adm. To guide us through the year we elected class officers: Diane Sidel, president; Carol Fenger, vice president; Nancy Sprunger, secretary-treasurer; Sue Bolstad and Jim Kirby, Student Council representatives. Miss Paul patiently advised us during the first year. One of the first events was the initiation party the Sophomores gave for us at Lake Blaine. We expressed our appreciation at a return party. Then the day came when we trudged up the hill and painted the 'B'. In the fall of '56 we re-entered Bigfork's halls, an even livelier and considerably less green group. With us came two new advisors, Mr. Tomaskie and Mr. Hoepfer. Our class officers were Tom Koopang, president; Ron Martin, vice president; Marjorie Corson, secretary-treasurer; Martha Sanden and Harlan Coverdell, Student Council representatives. The first thing we did that year was to make the new frosh welcome with the customary party at Lake Blaine. The carnival, basketball games, mixers, and the tournament, filled our spare time. Our second year ended with the anxiety of becoming upperclassmen at last. 9 The Junior year held many events which will be long remembered by all who worked and strived to make them a success. The class officers who guided us through that year were Ron Martin, president; Marjorie Corson, vice president; Deanna Brosten, secretary; Sue Bolstad, treasurer; Deanna Brosten and Tom Koppang, Student Council representatives. The Annual Junior Talent Show was the first thing on the agenda that year. With Gypsy Camp as the theme, it was quite successful. The most memorable events were the Junior- Senior Banquet at Frenchy's Chinese Gardens, and, the Prom that followed in the gym, which had been turned into a spot of enchantment, corresponding with the theme, Fairyland. Another major task of our Junior year was the presentation of the play You Can't Kiss Caro- line, which was directed by our advisor, Mr. Boedecker. Deanna Brosten and Tom Nelson were delegates to Girls' and Boys' State. Our senior year brought the greatest responsibility of all--publishing the 1959 Le Lac. For six months, we spent every spare minute either working or worrying about the annual. liven with all this we managed to sponsor a mixer after the last basketball game of the year, and the Christmas Ball was a real success with dancing to the music of the Dennison Quartet. The officers who steered us through that final year were Tom Nelson, president; Marjorie Cor- son, vice president; Myrna Slater, secretary; Nancy Sprunger, treasurer; Phyllis Sustello and Harlan Coverdell, Student Council representatives. Although our class was small in number, we still managed to provide many of the officers for such organizations as Pep Club, Student Council, FHA, FFA, B Club, and Twirlers. Now, with commencement near; our present goal almost accomplished, we look back and wonder if we are prepared to fulfill the more complicated and perplexing goals yet to face us in the future. It is with fond memories, that we bid farewell to classmates and teachers, each to go our separate way. 13 CLASS PROPHECY NAME Sue Bolstad Deanna Brosten Karen Clothier Marjorie Corson Harlan Coverdell Martha Evenson Russell Graveley Arnold Haag Tom Koppang Ron Martin Tom Nelson Elaine Nichols Ellen Nivens Sandra Rodler Marion Rolston Martha Sanden Myma Slater Nancy Sprunger Phyllis Sustello AMBITION Piano Teacher Teacher Veterinarian Secretary Scientist Gym teacher College Pilot Mechanic Surgeon Pro-football player Housewife Police woman Medical secretary Secretary Bookkeeper Airline hostess Dress designer Legal secretary PROBABILITY Piano player in Joe's bar Janitor in school Dog catcher Perennial lap-sitter First man to the moon Woman wrestler Professor's pet Grease monkey for T.W.A.
