SENIOR CLASS OFFICERS Graham, Robinette, Cooper, Collins President MARY JANE ROBINETTE Vice-President ... ... KIN GRAHAM Secretary KYLE COOPER Treasurer CARL COLLINS Sponsor MISS LORA DINGUS SENIOR CLASS HISTORY As we forty students complete our high school education and take our places among the alumni, we look wistfully back over our happy years of school. Only twelve of us started in school together. Those were: Barbara Bishop, Johnny Bradburne, Kyle Cooper, Bob Daugherty, Fay Dickenson, Kin Graham, Harriet Holton, Patsy Masters, Shirley Messer, Peggy Reach, Joyce Sargent and Ray Seale. The rest of us joined the class at different times. After eight years of preparation, we proudly claimed the distinction of Freshmen. With the hope of becoming Seniors, we pressed forward to the mark. Realizing that all work and no play might make us dull, we devoted much of our spare time to extra curricula activities. We were well represented in Football, Basketball, Baseball, and the Band. The Sophomore year quickly passed and before we realized it we were Juniors, selling magazines to help with the expense of our annual, decorating the gym for the Prom, selecting our class rings and making a daisy chain. We were represented at Girls ' State and Boys ' State at Blacksburg by Martha Jane Powers, Harriet Holton, Patsy Masters, Kyle Cooper, Bob Daugherty, and Raye Seale. Our senior year proved to be the busiest and happiest. The arrival of our rings brought a long antici- pated joy. We broke the conventions by having blue and red stones in our rings. Then during the Easter vacation came the trip to Washington which was indispensable to our education and enjoyment. Again we went to the Prom, but this time as guests. Peggy Reach was crowned Queen and Gerald Taylor King in an elaborate ceremony. Mary Jane Robinette was elected Best Citizen to represent our school in the contest sponsored by the D. A. R. We had much fun displaying our dramatic ability in a one-act play featuring Bill Locke as the doctor; Ray Seale with his three loves, Peggy Bledsoe, Sue Midkiff, and Mary Jane Robinette; and Martha Jane Powers as Fungus, the colored janitor. This was only a prelude to our final production, the Senior Play, YOU ' RE THE DOCTOR, in which Bill Locke again scores a hit. It was well received by the audience and we had fun producing it. As graduation neared, there was much preparation to be done and we were also about to enter a new phase of our lives. We now must use our acquired knowledge to reset our goals and face life on our own. We will always cherist our Alma Mater and hold its memories within our hearts. SENIOR PLAY CAST YOU ' RE THE DOCTOR!! Bob Morrison, in search of trouble Spiffy, who supplies it Officer Dugan, on the trail of the culprits Dr. Thorpe, himself Moe Rosenberg, his lawyer Professor Sockum, physical culture instructor Dr. Theophilus Peck, who aspires to write Archie Landis, Bob ' s friend Velma Matthews, owner of the Sanitarium Clementina, a permanent patient Melindy, the colored cook Rita Harbirough, a movie star Katrina Dumpelmeyer, a lady from Vienna Bianca Bachagalupa, looking for a rich husband Johnny Bradburne Bill Locke Kyle Cooper Jimmy Miller Ray Seale Philip Kinder Carl Collins Bob Daugherty Harriet Holton Martha Jane Powers Bobbie Jean Gallihar Marcella Wright Patsy Masters Peggy Bledsoe
