L O RA DINGUS Mgidfles, Orr, Cooper Senior Class The thirty-three of us did not all begin our education the same year. Of our group only Callie Anne Coughlin, Betty Anne Yonce, Anna Sue Williams, Dorothy Burke, Tommie Vaughn, Faye McQuery, and Louise Duncan have that distinction. Those years in the grammar school seemed short and we were ready for high school before we realized it. .As we Seniors near the end of our high school days anxiously we await that all important day-that day on which we shall receive our diplomas. The thought of leaving our school friends to face a new life with its responsibilities has with it a note of sadness and we stop to recall some of the incidents ofthe happy years spent in school. In our Freshmen year we were so excited over being in high school that it took us some time to realize that we were one among many. Even then we felt quite grown up. As Sophomores we began to enter into the many activities of the school which increased that feeling of importance that we already had acquired. The Junior year arrived and with it much excitement. The day we chose our class rings will be long remembered. The selling of magazines to help defray the expenses of our School Bell when we were to be Seniors was quite a profitable experience for us. Probably the most important event of the year was the Junior-Senior Prom. lr was really a gala affair with all the trimmings. The final act of the year was our par- ticipation in Commencement exercises-marching with the Seniors, carrying the daisy chain and singing with the Seniors. At last, a Senior! This year will always hold first place in our memory. In Sep- tember the rings arrived that we selected when we were Juniors, Soon we were looking at and choosing invitations. Then Easter vacation came and with it that important trip of the year to Washington. lt was really a week filled with excitement and fun, Time was running short-the Senior play, directed by Mrs. Winston Giles and our Sponsor, Miss Lora Dingus, was presented and well received. Shortly after our appearance as would be actors and actresses we were entertained by the Juniors at the Prom. Our class president Bob Buckles was chosen King for the occasion-and he really looked the part. As Commencement week approached we realized that we were about to say Good- bye to those happy school days, and we had hope that the future held open the door of success for us.
