She is an Eighth Grade sponsor. Miss Sarah Broadwater, Big Stone Gap, who has an A.B. from Hollins College, teaches History I2, Algebra 9 and IO. She is the Junior sponsor. Miss Lora Dingus, Coeburn, who has an A.B. from Emory and Henry College, teaches Math II and 12, Latin I and II, and Chemistry. She is sponsor of the Senior class, School Bell, and Roman Club. Mr. Jack H. Gibbs, Appalachia, who has a B.S. from Appala- chian State Teachers College, teaches Math 8, History I0 and II, He is director of the Glee Club and sponsor of the Camera Club, Safety Patrol, and Eighth Grade. Mrs. Josephine Giles, Big Stone Gap, has an A.B. in education from Radford and teaches English 9 and II. She is an assistant librarian and sponsor of the school paper and the Freshman class. Miss Mary Katherine Hamilton, Big Stone Gap, is the librarian who has an B.A. in education from Madison and teaches Spanish I and II and History 8. She is on Eighth Grade sponsor. Home Economics is taught by Mrs. Kathleen K. Horne, who has a B. S. from William and Mary College. She is in charge of the school lunch room and sponsors the F. H. A. Miss Betty Purcell, St. Paul, who has a B.S. from Radford College, Women's Division of V. P. I., teaches English 8 and Typing. Short- hand, typing, and Introduction to Business are taught by Miss Anna B. Slemp, Big Stone Gap, who has a B.S. in Business Education from Radford College, Women's Divis- ion of V. P. I. Mr. Burchell Stallard, Wise, is assistant football coach and coach of girls basketball. He has a B.S. from Milligan and teaches biology and Science 8. He is sponsor of the Sophomore Boys, Mr. Joe D. Starnes, Ft. Blackmore, is coach and director of physical education. He has a B.S. from Milligan and an M,S. from the Uni- versity ot Kentucky.
