The' '-F1 egular room was too small for such a crowd so the boys were sent with Mr. Stallard as counselor to study hall and the girls remained in Room 20 under the care of Miss Brewer. R Nh sponsors have been patient guides throughout the school year. Q' mid-term we watched the turn of the half century and the decade in which we hav come from first grade rooms to our present classification. We are looking forward o t e fifties when we shall graduate and shall enter another phase of life's experiences. K We were well represented in sports this year with Darrel Collins, Eugene Mullins, Eugene Rutherford, James Ashe, Stuart Mahaltey, Robert Messer, Bob True, and Jennings I Scroggs on the football squad. When the basketball call came, Eugene Rutherford, 1.64 'I Jim Hamblen, Phil Kinder, and Jimmy Whisman got uniforms and Marie Harris, Clarice ..--l' L ss Livin ston, Barbara Gilliam, M rna James, Jerr Ma hew and Bett Herron were the girls N Q Y Y Y Y .IV v who entered this sport. . rf ' I li Jimmy McFalls and Barbara Gilliam were the cheerleaders from our class. -,H ' ,y 5' f X- Clubs are still important around school. ln the Camera Club were Peggy Lambert, -l Phyllis Witt, Margaret Carr, and Patty Weatherly. The Latin Club claimed Myrna James, L., Jerry Mayhew, Margaret Fletcher, and Patty Lynn Weatherly as members. There were LT' twenty-three Sophomores in the Glee Club and in the Band. We were enthusiastic at first, L 9 9 l Y 9 9 Nibutrdis the enthusiasm wore oft, we settled down to the rountine of daily work. Mrs. Giles and Coach 'Staines were the s onsors for the two sections. ,. P 'F When the football season rolled around, we were represented by Fred Statzer, Donald Davis, Mc- Kinley Graham and Tommy Peterson, Harriet Holton was elected a cheerleader. Then after football season was over, we looked forward to basketball season. Those who partici- pated in it were: Sarah Gilliam, Harriet Holton and Fay Dickenson. We all know that to have tun in high school one has to participate in school activities. Harriet Holton and Fred Statzer were in the Varsity Club, Barbara Mercer was in the Camera Club and a Representive on the School Bell Staff. Harriet Holton and Mary Louise Payne were on the Safety Patrol. There were five in the Band, tour in the Glee Club, thirteen in the Roman Club and eighteen in the F. H. A. Club.
