Officers Secretary .,.... Treasurer ,,,... Sponsor , .,.... Junior Class The Junior Class of 1949-'50 had a happy year with Miss Broadwater as the home room teacher and counselor. The long awaited event of selecting our rings finally came. We chose a beautiful round ring which we can wear proudly as seniors. Our class was well represented in sports with Lee Roy Phillips, Jimmy Gilliam, Eugene Bentley, Bill Wilson, and Bobby Buckles on the football team. Joe Gorley served as manager. Mary Beth Orr was elected one of the cheerleaders. Phillips, Buckles and Bentley were also on the basketball team. On the girls' team were Nadine Gilliam, Alma Trent, Nell Laster, and Ruth Wells. We had several members of our class in the band. Those were Nadine Gilliam, Nell Laster, Callie Anne Coughlin, Tommy Vaughn, Mary Jane Miles, and Doris Carter. Mary Jane and Callie Anne were members of the All-State band at Radford. Juniors who held positions on the School Bell Staff were W. H. Clark, Jr., Callie Anne Coughlin, Jimmy Murphy, and Bernice Gibson. The ones elected from our class to serve on the Jolly Roger Staff were Faye Mc- Query, Callie Anne Coughlin, W. H. Clark, Jr., Jimmy Murphy, Katherine Smith, and Bob Buckles. Many of us joined the different school clubs. Among these clubs were the Glee Club, Key Club, Latin Club, Camera Club, Varsity Club and the Home Economics Club. Billy Joe Kirk, Mary Beth Orr, and Ruth Wells were members of the Safety Patrol. At the end of school we planned and gave the Junior-Senior Prom. Now, we can claim the title of Dignified Seniors.
