We, the Junior Class, proudly give you the following highlights: Miss Dingus, our sponsor, offered advice and cheered us on in making this a successful year. “Tency” Collier fulfilled our every expectation as class president. Peggy Reeder as vice-president and Beecher Holland as secretary-treasurer added their efforts for our cause. Our musical talent was displayed through Jim Quillen ' s tenor voice in the Glee Club, Bill Buckles’ rhythm on the drums, and Margaret Stone’s accompaniment at the piano. ‘ Lib” DuPre’s smooth dancing assured her popularity at school parties. Mary Louise Stewart, Louise Sizemore, Billie McDaniel, Mildred Stamper, Betty Sizemore and Sybol McDaniel spent much of their school time in the typing room. Carefree Jo DeBord, lively Anna Ruth Kilgore, laughing Lucille Williams and witty Don Anderson were our class comedians. Attractive Thelma Peters has the personality to match her looks. Ann Nickels, Doris Williams, and Bill Wright upheld our scholastic record. Bill Kelly, also a good student, divided his interest between the band and basketball. In addition to Ray Graham’s class- room honors, he showed great promise in football and basketball. Worthy positions were held by Jerry Potter, Captain of the Safety Patrol, Marjorie Giles, class representative, and Margaret Beasley, assistant editor, of The School Bell.

CLASS OFFICERS President BETTY Ann Body Secretary-Treasurer J. G. EDENS As we review the past twelve years we are reminded that we wear our class rings as tokens of the period that has passed since we started at the bottom of the hill with our eyes toward graduation. Only eight of that beginning group — Betty Sue Allen, Don Wax, George Showalter, Jimmy Cummings, Marvin Trent, Betty Jo Campbell, Helen Snodgrass, and Betty Ann Body — have remained together throughout these years. Standing most prominent in our minds are the past three years, a period of marked transition in our lives. We have experienced a decrease in our class rolls, an intensive study of news behind the news, an accent on individual physical growth, rather than the development of winning teams, and a new seriousness about our responsibilities. As we carried the daisy chain down the aisle in the final exercises of our junior year, we began to look forward to our own graduation and to anticipate all that it could mean to us. At the beginning of our senior year, we felt the loss of Billy Wayne Hill who left us because of illness, and Roy Orr and George Boy who joined the armed forc.s. Only twenty-five of us weathered the difficulties and embarked upon our senior year under the capable leadership of Betty Ann Body and J. G. Edens, our class officers. Some of us played football and basketball; some joined the Glee Club and the band; others sold defense stamps and bonds: still others served as members of the Safety Patrol; and all of us contributed to the Red Cross, the U. S. O., and the Infantile Paralysis Funds. On the social side, the Juniors out did themselves in honoring us with the Junior- Senior reception. We will probably forget the trivial details, but thoughts of the many friendships cultivated and the worthwhile experiences gained will come back occasionally and remind us of these years spent together. As we walked across the stage in our caps and gowns to receive our diplomas, we wore our rings as a fulfillment of our goal. But as we face the future, we shall wear them as a cornerstone on which to build a richer, more worthwhile life.
