On March 51, 1954, members of our class toured the Gettysburg Battlefield under the super- vision of Miss Plough, our American History teacher, and Mr. Spangler. On April 7, 1955, an Easter program was conducted in the Big Spring Presbyterian Church by Senior Hi-Y and Tri-Hi-Y. The height of the social calendar was Aloha,', our junior Prom, held at Memorial Hall on April 22, 1955. Hal Herman and his orchestra provided the music for the Hawaiian event. The class honored the class of 1955 with a V banquet at the Zion Lutheran Church on May 13, , Q 1955. The theme was Southern Plantation Party. 5 - OD June 15, 1955, we received our class rings. ACT IV Time-September, 1955 - June, 1956 Place-Big Spring High School gm Now as seniors, under the f' -- direction of Mr. Woods, and Mr. Fry, we were entering the final year of production. We gained a new classmate from St. Louis, Missouri, john Dively. The class of 1956 was comprised of 56 seniors. we f, ,X , Nga, We chose our leaders: Frank Zeigler, President, Lois Roth, Vice President, Nancy Robinson, Secretary, Alan Henry, Treasurer, and Shirley Stitt, Historian. On October 12, 1955 there was a chance for the seniors to make money by selling magazines. Unfortunately, we lost the campaign against the Juniors. Ronney Rook was high salesman for our class. He sold 35176.25 He took a pair of roller skates as his prize. I

Prom Peanut Week began November 13, 1955, to raise money for our senior - class trip. fi W The tradition of senior pictures was carried on. X QQ Mr. Eppley from Eppley's Studio snapped our T' WF.. pictures individually. A lf! ' I - it Mr. Robinson helped to take pictures for the yearbook. ... I 1 The time came for which we had been patiently Y, waiting . . . the trip to Washington, D. C. We ff left Newville on the morning of April 26 and ,417 I li flf' 1ll ' 99 JL? returned the 27th of April. Some of the places we visited were the Franciscan monastery, the National Zoological park, Mt. Vernon, Lincoln and Jefferson's Memorials, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the Washington Monument, the White House, the F.B.I. building, the Capitol, the Bureau of Printing and Engraving, the Wash- ington airport, and the Smithsonian Institute. On Thursday evening we enjoyed a boat cruise up the Potomac River. in the new auditorium of the high school. The annual school play was held The members of our class who participated in the three-act comedy, Goodby My Fancy, were: Donald Drexler, Lynn Reid, Anna Marie George, Ronald Rook, Frank Zeigler, Sylvia Stabnau, Thelma Gettle, Janet Clevenger, Mildred Martin, Clinton Beckner. In june the class of 1957 honored us at a picnic held in Pine Grove. - The Baccalaureate Service was held on june 3 in the auditorium of Big Spring High School. Commencement was held on june 5 in the high school auditorium. Robert Jenks was the principal speaker and Shirley Stitt, Mildred Martin, and Frank Zeigler were the student speakers. I I ill If W X We are venturing into a new world, faced with new problems and new experiences. What we have learned in high school will be determined by our lives after graduation. ACT III Time-August, 1954 - May, 1955 Two short acts had passed and 68 juniors entered the third year of high school. Advisors of the third act were Miss Plough, Mr. Spangler, Mr. Loy, and Mrs. Rearick. Our chosen leaders were Frank Zeigler, President, Dallas Hoover, Vice President, Nancy Robinson, Secretary, Alan Henry, Treasurer, and Shirley Stitt, Historian. We gained two new classmates. They were Lois Roth from Boiling Springs, and Frances Luttrell from Palymara. On September 10, 1954, Big Spring students were taken to the site of the new high school to witness the ground breaking ceremony. The school skating party was held on February 28, 1955, at Rainbow Roller Rink. Because of crowded conditions in the high school building, a Christmas Program was held in the Big Spring Presbyterian Church on December 25, 1954.
