In high hopes of obtaining their first district win, the long- horns took on the Cooper Cougars on a slippery, muddy field. A win just wasn ' t in the cards as the gridders slid to a 20-0 defeat. It was then on to Odessa, where the next oppo- nent was an explosive team led by Darrel Sheppard. Against the Odessa Broncos, Bubba Stripling scored two touchdowns breaking the scoring spell which plagued the team for three straight games. Odessa finished the game on top. A disap- pointing season finally came to a climax when the San Angelo Bobcats came to town accompanied by a snow storm which buried everything with a six inch blanket. The Bob- cats won the battle of the blizzard by a score of 20-6. A - Mike Harris runs around end for good yardage. B - Darrel Sheppard proved to be a hard man to contain for the local defenders. C - Gregg Adams finds the ball hard to hold as Broncho defenders look on. D - Tommy Wegner, Billy Hayes, and Wade Cobb gang up on a Broncho. Football 123
