M.S.--N.'I'.S T.C. Dear Seniors: It is now time for another group of boys and girls to graduate from dear old Big Spring High. It has been a great pleasure to me to have the opportunity of working withyou for the last four years. May your future years be as happy as this, your Senior, ha s b e e n , and may your efforts ever be liberally r ewa rde d by success, Someone said T he nation that has the schools has the future. Another spoken thus: Manhood, not scholarship, is the fir s t aim of education . It is true that much of the paramount aixn of education-- this m a nho o d --this character ? People judge our character by our actions, our speed, and our associates. Life, too is a book in which we all write our lines. Let's make those lines worth reading. W. L. The following fall, perhaps a bit scared and a little shaky, but too p roud and too excited to admit it, we be gan our yea r a s Freshmen, or in high school lingo, as Little Fish . We learned much more than just General Science or Fir st Year English. We learned which stairs to use, which te a che r to be nice to, and which senior to swoon over. We also learned to be good s po rts and laugh when kidded by the upperclassmen. Yes, we learned a lot that first year as Little Fish , but, all in all, it was a good year. Time flew by and it was September, 1946, and there we were--Sophomores. We felt older now, getting into biology, algebra, and foreign languages. By then we had become acquainted with more people--students and teachers: our grades were better because we had learned how to study. Just a s we were getting used to the fact that we were Sophomores, it was fall of 1947, and we were Juniors. Our Junior year is full of memories. We had earned the cherished title of Upperclassmen , but along with this we had earned mo re responsibilities. First came our Junior Play. We had fun with that and w e can proudly say it was a good play. Later in the year we sponsored a box supper for the students and faculty and it turned out to be great fun. Then came the s p r ing, and along with it, the Prom. That meant work and we worked hard. Our work wasn't done in vain either, because it was a success and something definitely to be remembered. The climax of our junior year came with the Senior Assembly. We could neve r forget our feeling on that day when the seniors left their front row seats for us to take over. There were tears in our eyes to see them leave, but p ride in our hearts to know that we were taking their places. Then came September,l948, and we were Seniors: we were the big dogs , We entered this last and most important year with great enthusiasm. Taking physics, trigonometry, and public speaking in our stride, we fo und time to realize this was our final year and that we must make it our best. Thi s year we worked harder on our class play. We looked forward to the Prom even more anxiously, because we knew it was in our honor, and the juniors made it live up to our greatest expectations. And now, facing graduation, w e cannot conceal the pain in our hearts as we realize that we have seen our last footballgame as high school studentsg that we have gather- ed wood for our last bonfire, and dressed in cowboy regalia for our last Ranch Week. In trying to sum up our feelings we can say, with a great deal of pride, that our high school days have been a wonderful four years and we would like to say to you future seniors-- Make the most of your lastlyear, for it will be among your most treasured memories . pf tv 'A in ' SQ X ieff MF' .Ji ,' W .. 5 ff.: in.
