THE BIG SANDY HIGH SCHOOL ANNUAL STAFF PRESENTS THE 1989 PIONEER Administration The year 1989 has been a celebration jr, Montana as put another candle on the cake and say Happy Birthday Montana We Montanans are very fortunate to live in a big, beautiful state that takes pride in education. The quality of education in Montana is high, as our 19B8 graduates ranked fourth in the nation on their ACT scares. Montana's graduation rate of over 67 percent last year was sixth best in Che country. Montana has the sixth lowest student dropout rate in the nation. Why does Montana rank so high in so many areas7 Because we have students, parents, educators and Montanans as a whole who are concerned about the quality of education Montana has been slow to change, but statistics show that we make only the changes to improve the quality of education. fts our Centennial year ends, we look ahead to what will happen in Montana the next one hundred years We know that we want our children to get a good education at the eleaentarv, secondary and college levels so that they will find good jobs. We know that by having concerned people at the local and state levels we will meet this goal as we loci into the future of Montana. -Mil I lam 0. Colter- “fDU've come a long way, baby1 These words, which .wist of U5 associate with a recent commercial , can also be used to describe Montana’s first one hundred years of statehood Montana has developed greatly since those years when the rail reads brought in hundreds of immigrants to settle this great 1 and The pioneers rtbc came to Big Sandy and its surrounding areas were a hard working group. They spent many hours developing their homesteads so that they could provide a hone and make a living for their families. Working hard to develop Big Sandy, these pioneers built schools to educate their children Their children and their children s children saw many changes arid improvements take place during their life times. Many of these changes m living standards were brought about because of the influence of education on their lives. Who knows what the next one hundred years will bring to Montana7 One thing we ran i now for certain is that education will be a far greater requirement for survival in the future. I the Big bandy Pioneers go forward with the same determination and courage and endeavor as their ancestors did, they will easily cope with the challenges and opportunities of Montana's next one hundred years The world and the future await you Go forward and meet them just as your ancestors did -James Barsotti- 2 'J Best friends, parties, FIELD trip graduation, FAVORITE TEACHERS, FINALS, FIRST DATE, SENIOR PICNIC, MOVIES, TALKING ON THE PHONE, PEP RALLY THE BIG GAME, REFLECTIONS, GOOD TIMES, MEMORIES Wf SENIORS DANIELLE BTO Seng: True Love Food: Chocolate Movie: West Side Story Person: Bush - of course saying: r,what?M Hobby: among Pet Peeve: Being called a Brownte jm cross .Song: die Night Stand Fbod: Steak and Shrlsip Mbvle: Good Morning Vietnam Person: m Saying: Be that color” Hobby: hunting and fishing Pet Peeve: Seventh graders ANGLE SfflCJN Seng: I'm a tittle Teapot by Tert and Scott Pood: Diet Coke Movie: teihl Saying: I rkn't taw” Hobby: swimning Pet Peeve: Studyhalls with :k r5e3 ihoff FRED TEm Seng: Don't Worry Be Happy Fbod: Pizza Movie: The Terminator Person: Mickey Mouse Saying: I hate It when that happens Hobby: Watching Movies Pet Peeve: Under Classmen KRISTIE DAVIDSON Song: Hold Me Fbod: Crab and Ulster Movie: Stand By M?
