PRINCIPAL AND SECRETARY The theme of this year’s annual is food. As an educator, I like to think of books and learning as food for the mind. Just as food provides nourishment for our bodies and helps them develop so, too, the educational and extracurricular experiences in which we partake help develop our minds and our spirits. The 1986-87 school year has produced new changes and new experiences that will help us grow in intellect and in spirit. The capturing of the State Class C Girls Basketball championship, a fitting honor for this year’s team, has greatly helped to illustrate the positive spirit of which I speak. An examination of the performance of our students in academic pursuits (be it on test scores or educational accomplishments) shos the educational and intellectual growth that is continually taking place with many of our students. Many of us associate food with the good times that we share with friends and relatives at various gatherings. In years to come, this annual will hopefully serve as the food for thought to reminds us of the many experiences and good times shared this year. I would like to congratulate the annual staff for their efforts in producing this annual. I would also like to express a special thank you to everyone who actively participated in the many academic and extracurricular activities that took place this year. Thank you for helping provide food for our minds and spirits. James Barsotti

SUPERINTENDENT AND CLERK SUPERINTENDENT’S MESSAGE WILLIAM (BILL) COLTER Nancy Jappe Clerk SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT As a new superintendent in the Big Sandy School sys- tem, I view the new position as one of challenge be- cause of coming into a new community and working with a new staff, students, and school board. I will have to adjust to the wants and needs of the community and school board. An opportunity because Big Sandy has a statewide reputation cf having an excellent education standards and quality that past administration and present staff members have instilled. I like the challenge to continue the present quality and will work hard on area that need improving. The students and parents sincerely have a school that they should be proud of and I appreciate your support. May my time at Big Sandy be one of continuing excel- lence to the quality of education for your children. William O. Colter Superintendent
