SCHOOL BOARD I would like to congratulate the teaching staff and students of Big Sandy Schools on another year of achieve- ments. We must never stop working to keep the Big Sandy Schools at th- top of the fist. 1 feel your theme - One Step at a Time - is very appropriate in a world that has so many social and political problems. To the Class of 77, the school board would like to wish all the very best of everything in your future. God Bless You All Fred Bitz Top Left: Fred Bitz, Chairman. Top Right: Marilyn Lund. SUPERINTENDENT’S MESSAGE The 1977 Annual has special meaning to me because it honors the Class of 1977. One of the members of that class is my oldest son and the first of my three children to graduate from high school. He has attended the Big Sandy Public Schools for ten years of his life, and I am very thankful and proud that he had the opportunity to gain the greater portion of his elementary and secondary education in a school and community of this caliber. Learning One Step at a Time is the theme of the '77 Annual, and I believe that the children in the Big Sandy community have certainly experienced this, for how else would such an over-all educational foundation have been laid for the Class of '77? Our school is now one of the smallest in the B classification, and yet we have experienced academic and extra-curricular achievements which have made us the envy of many larger peers. We are always concerned when we are about to lose a graduating class because we wonder if classes that follow will provide the kind of positive leadership and example that the current Senior Class has exhibited. Generally our fears are unfounded because our students are learning one step at a time, and when the time arrives, are ready to step in and take over the active reins of leadership in our school system. Congratulations to the Class of '77 on all of your achievements including this publication, and thank you for your contributions that each of you have made in making our school one of the best. 29
