1974 Junior Miss ... A Real Country Sunshine I Was Raised on Country Sunshine, the 1974 Junior Miss Pageant, was held on December 2, 1973. Charlie Sidebottom, disc jockey for KEIN radio, served as Master of Ceremonies. The pageant began with the presentation of the physical fitness routine, lower right, done to the title song. After the talent presentation, the eight girls trying out appeared in formals for the poise and appearance section. They are pictured below. Left to right they are: Alma Lanning, Barbara Drga, Nancy Gullickson, Sharon Berlinger, Valerie Bley, chairman, Sheila Yirsa, Gay Halter, Nancy Ray, and Laurie Tyler. The highlight of the evening was the Awards Presentation in which Jon Tester and Teresa Courtnage took part. 26
